What exactly is this Cinnamon that folk are getting so excited about?
Cinnamon - spice obtained from the inner bark of several tree species from the genus Cinnamomum.

Cinnabon - bakery chain originating from the US, famous for their Cinnamon rolls...

I also wouldn't fill up on the motorway, I'm a skinflint!

Was just surprised at the cost, morrisons is 30p I didn't realise they varied so much.

Happy to report the chargers are getting some use, especially late at night,. There always seems to be a car plugged in when I take the dog for the late night walk. It would be good to think that there would be some joined up thinking so users are able to stay charging for more than 2 hours and not get scammed by the car park operator but i bet that isn't in place...

Yeah that’s the downside, max you’re getting is 14kw (if you have a 7kw charger onboard) before you have to pay quite a hefty fee for that leccy

Town was mobbed last night, probably helped by Jason Manford doing two shows at the gatehouse. I was doing something else at the gatehouse til half 8, big crowds outside when I left, seemed to be loads of teenagers at the post house (?!), verso busy and liquor tank looked full! Really good to see for a Monday evening.

I was in town last night and had a drink at Shrewsbury Arms and the Liquor Tank before going to watch Jason Manford. It was lovely sitting outside the Liquor Tank and next to a busy Verso Longe.

It felt like I was abroad with the lovely weather. All very civilised and lovely.

Loads - I worked in toys, menswear, china & glass, stationary, mother & baby, lighting, sports & the Christmas department in the 3 and a bit years I worked there. That was part of the problem in the end, each department was run like an individual shop with a Manager & Assistant Manager etc., massively overstaffed (which is not a major problem when you are making millions every year). First thing HoF did when they took over was make mass redundancies. Very sad story, the old General Manager committed suicide he was so distraught at having to put so many people on the dole.
I’ve found a Beatties Store Guide leaflet. It’s not dated but an 01902 ‘phone number puts it after April 1995 and about three dozen departments suggests maybe no later than about 2005. There’s a plan of each of the five floors which looks much as I remember it in the 1960s though I’m not sure if “Casual Dining” is what was the food hall or delicatessen.

(1) Skinner Street Level = Upholstery, Dining Furniture, Cabinet Furniture

(2) Lower Ground Floor = Toys ; Heelbar, Dry Cleaning ; China & Glass ; Casual Dining ; Kitchen and Bathroom Accessories ; Electrical

(3) Ground Floor = Fitted Bedroom Furniture ; Audio Visual / Home Entertainment ; Carpets ; Home Furnishings ; Home Sewing ; Staionery / Confectionery / Greetings Cards ; Fashion Accessories ; Handbag & Travel Goods ; Perfumery ; Toiletries / Footcare ; Young Fashion ; COSTA Coffee ; Artists Materials ( access via Darlington Street )

(4) First Floor = Hair & Beauty Salon ; Underwear & Nightwear ; Ladies Fashion ; Ladies Shoes ; Childrens Shoes ; Ladies Coats & Rainwear ; Childrenswear ; Bridal ; CAFÉ Beatties ; Customer Services ; Customer Toilets ; Ladies Toilets ; Baby Changing Room

(5) Second Floor = RESTAURANT ; BISTRO ; Mens Shoes ; Menswear – Contemporary Fashion ; Menswear – Classic Fashion ; Sports ; Bookshop ; Disabled and Mens Toilets

I take it Beatties has gone now. As kids we used to cycle to Wolverhampton to go in the 'posh' store. Cycling was fairly easy once you got to the dual carriageway as they had a cycle path even back then. Avoiding the overhead electric trolley buses demanded concentration.

(Yes, I know, it's a grammatical error putting the words 'posh' and 'Wolverhampton' in the same sentence. :P )

Not really an error as Beatties attracted 'posh' customers from maybe up to a dozen or so miles away.
A friend from Stockport was in Wolverhampton yesterday to get round several pubs and noticed that it has a closing down sale.
