Somebody mentioned this monument by the Windmill bend to me the other day...

...I was surprised to see the plaque attached by Posidrive screws, I would have expected six-inch nails, banged in with a pneumatic nail-gun.

The next night out is the 24th April at the Luck Penny 8.00pm onwards. Please let him know and tell him he will be really welcome. There will be many there he will know.

Just heard that Ken James (Jamo) died yesterday. No more info. at the moment.
Sad news - too many stories about him - not all suitable for here....

...but, I do remember him getting up early and waiting for the milkman, so that he could change the foil tops on two milk bottles - a full-fat and a skimmed one- so that he could find out if they were identifying the full-fat by means of the coloured cap, or by looking through the glass to see which bottle was worth vandalising.

I bought my nephew a Lego set based on building various boats - I decided to try it out first and discovered that the instructions were all in Spanish - we spent a couple of hours behind a control cubicle engaged in an in-depth technical discussion on nautical matters.

Around this point in the year, he would suddenly start using a new cigarette-holder, which he had whittled from a piece of stick - this would be declared to be The First Day Of Spring.

Didn't he also have an allotment that extended under the fence towards the railway tracks?

We would be checking every day around this time of year, to see when the new holder would appear - there was a suspicion that it was all based on the tax-year, rather than simply the weather and seasons...

Some years ago, I was talking to a chap I knew that worked on the railway. One of his tasks was to drive the weed-killer train around the system, usually at night. When he realised that I lived in Stafford, he mentioned that there was a pencilled note on the procedure for the Stafford area to avoid spraying a particular 'escaped' allotment....

R.I.P Jamo. His yodelling was legendary! Top fella!
The last time I met him, he had just returned from a trip around Scotland and had yodelled in Fingal's Cave, much to the consternation of the rest of the coach party...

Apparently he got a letter from whoever the railway people were at the time telling him to 'reign it in'....

Another Brother departs.
Ken Silvester on Sunday 5th April.
Service at Crem on 17th at 12 noon.

Always a nice fella. I was looked after by his wife on my many stays in SGI and went to school with his daughter.
