A513 | A34 would be better than nothing.

When you look at the geometry on Google maps the A34 is straight over but slightly to the right and everything else is left. But the second roundabout is right before you in seconds. People often get it wrong, left lane then going on the A34. Or left lane and staying left to go onto Weeping Cross.
It may have had the road numbers back then, as well, I don't remember that aspect.

Some of us can remember dealing with the Give Way junction out of Baswich Lane and then straight into the queue for the traffic lights at the Weeping Cross/Cannock Road junction - if you could ever actually manage to get out of Baswich Lane - standard practice was to use Lynton Avenue at busy times, to give yourself a chance to get out and into the queue.

My earliest recollection of visiting Stafford was around 1987 to go to Rowneys with my mum and brother to get a TV and hifi. Not sure when the double roundabout thing came in.

Double roundabout was installed in early 1990s IIRC. I moved to Baswich in 1988 and the lights were there then. As @Gramaisc says, it was an ordeal to get out of Baswich Lane with the lights were there. It's better now but the queues can still stretch back past Porlock Avenue at busy times.

The previous layout is shown here, you can see the Baswich Lane exit (just), on the right.

The rearrangement of the road, to accommodate the two mini-roundabouts, involved moving the war memorial a few yards.

I can remember the times of Cannock Road being a side road onto the Lichfield rd , no lights or anything as there wasn't much traffic coming out or going up the Cannock Road.

Single-lane lights at the top of Billington Bank, for no apparent reason - nothing in the road to obstruct the passage of traffic, other than the lights, the signs and the cones.

The phantom cone layer had struck on Weeping Cross the other day. That road has roadworks on it at least 4 times a year.

Enjoying a drop of red.

It's nice for lights and cones to go on a bit of an outing, a bit of fresh air. And if they can bring traffic to a standstill then that's a win win situation.

Tixall Road by the Met Bar being a prime example. Many a no claims been lost along there over the years.
Google Maps actually shows it as One Way, but it isn't - the odd person will take advantage of the eastward direction, but it's not for the fainthearted. The people who do do it even have the benefit of an illuminated sign, especially for them.

I don't think I've seen anybody going in that direction this century - possibly not since the 80s.
