rubber speed humps...
The first speed hump I ever encountered was on the access road to the Poly, when it was in and out onto Beaconside. It was in the form of black rubber discs, about the size of dustbin lids, mounted on a flat steel chain, like a rope ladder. this was stretched across the road and there were small gaps between the discs, to allow motorcycles and pushbikes to squeeze through carefully, without the hump aspect, but still being slowed down by the amount of care necessary to do that successfully.

I commented that somebody must have been up early that morning, to fit it, only to be told that it was there the night before - I had whizzed down the hill in my usual style and had, presumably, just happened to run through the gap...

I never saw a thing.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Gravel lane humps have been there a couple of weeks now. One broke in the first few days after installation.

It's been about 2-3 weeks since Weeping Cross and the A34 near Wildwood last had traffic lights and roadworks. Surely it's time for more? possibly the most dug up roads in Stafford. Oh and the moon crater at the top of Radford Bank has appeared again.

Enjoying a drop of red.
My spies tell me there were two sets of temporary traffic lights in the A34 coming out of Stafford this afternoon.

Glad I'm not there is all I can say.

Why does Stafford appear to attract so many traffic light controlled road works when as you pass, there is either no signs of digging or work started or the road is dug up but no workers are present, yet there is major traffic congestion been caused?🤬🤬

Because Staffordshire County Council hate Stafford. Always have, always will.

The fact that they are monumentally incompetent is also unhelpful.

⚠️
Road Closure
⚠️

There's been a collision on the A518 at Stowe by Chartley, and the road has had to be closed.
Traffic is being asked to avoid the area if possible and if not, to use the signposted diversion routes.
Please don't use the surrounding country lanes as these are unsuitable for heavy traffic.

3 car rtc at junction with Stowe Lane yesterday afternoon, 1 car ended up inside the house on the corner. I’mnot sure if it’s still closed both ways but l have restrictions for a while due to house damage.
Stowe Lane is also closed, catching a lot of people out using that road as a rat run to miss the lights at Weston.

It was closed whilst police investigate what happened according to BBC news this morning.

I saw loads of cars turning out of the junction coming from the Uttoxeter direction and thought it may have reopened so I followed a lorry and a police car this afternoon.

We got as far as Amerton farm where the road was closed. The policeman was most perturbed that they hadn't finished the investigation by that time.

A518 - ROAD BEING PARTIALLY REOPENED
Works to make a stretch of road safe again, after an incident yesterday are progressing - with one lane being reopened to traffic as of 20:00hrs tonight.
The A518 Uttoxeter to Stafford Road has been closed since around 11am on Tuesday, after two cars collided at the junction of Station Road.
One of the vehicle's left the carriageway, and came to rest wedged in a cottage.
The main route was immediately closed whilst the drivers were treated and structural engineers worked to make the building safe again.
Police, Fire, and recovery teams worked through the night to remove one vehicle and clear the road. But the second, a Mercedes - remains lodged in the building - after attempts to recover it were halted over concerns surrounding the buildings structural integrity.
One lane will remain closed for the foreseeable future, and a full closure needed once again - when the time comes to recover the second car.
Motorists caught up in the delays have been thanked for their patience and understanding.

Yet another set of temporary traffic lights on the Newport Road. This time between Rowley Avenue and Kingsway Roundabout. I'd avoid the area if you possibly can. Frankly if you're coming from the Newport direction to spend some money in Stafford. Don't bother. Go spend it in Newport or Telford instead.

Christ…

I also somehow have more questions than answers seeing the angle that car has hit the cottage at

You’ve got to wonder about speed/driver competence. The whole car is practically right inside the house. It looks almost as though the front of the house has been removed & the car slid into place

I saw workers installing "parking permit only" signs along Friars Road/Terrace the other day.

I asked one of the workers when the system would become operational but he didn't know. He then went on "we will be working in the area for the next three weeks so probably not until after that unless some over enthusiastic traffic warden spots the signs and we all know they are complete arseholes don't we?"

They're also installing the signs on the other side of the Wolverhampton Road too.
