Not sure if the motorway chaos made it all the way back to Stafford, but I shouldn't have been surprised to see it was due to the Motorcross on a field by Keele services. Every time it causes major tailbacks.

The iron man brings huge benefits to Stafford. Has anyone noticed how many potholes have been filled along the route in recent weeks. Unfortunately some on the non race side of the road have been ignored, can’t have the competitors suing for twisted ankles or damaged bike wheels 🙄🤦‍♂️

In my experience people doing ironmans are usually pretty comfortably off and in good jobs or even business owners. Those people have more influence than people commuting places on their bike.

The lights adjacent to the old Frankie and Benny's were out this morning. It was staggering how many people on Lichfield Road were oblivious to it whilst mortals like me were trying to filter out onto Lichfield Road....

I was partly witness to what could have been a really unsavoury incident, today.
Walking out of Mill Street onto the High Street there was a youth/young man travelling at a fair pace, on a skateboard. Straight away I thought "slow down!" Sure enough, 2 seconds later I heard a thud and turned round to see him and his board a few metres apart as a car came out of Mill Street and he hadn't stopped or even slowed down.
Unsurprisingly, he started effing and jeffing at the driver as well as hitting the car. I took it that the driver had more self control, or was even a woman that didn't want to get out. The car moved off and he carried on cursing.

It really does amaze me what people class as normal behaviour and this follows the video of the guy being arrested after arguing with police for riding his bike. Now I've walked through Market Square in its current state, I can understand even more why they are asking people to walk through!

Not wanting to make excuses for the youth of today but I thought that vehicles leaving Mill Street should give way to those proceeding, by whatever means, between Bridge Street and Greengate Street.

I'm not sure there is a legally enforceable pedestrian (or whatever) priority.

In fact, Street View suggests that the 'Stop' line that was there disappeared between 2009 and 2011, without ever returning.

All there seems to be at the emergence into Greengate Street is a 'No Left Turn' sign.

Seems a bit haphazard to me.

Possibly, but I didn't see the impact and the car couldn't have been travelling at any speed.
I'd imagine the incident poses more questions about what we class as vehicles if he was travelling at pace but blames the motorist

Rule H2 of the new Highway Code states: At a junction you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning.
Riders of skateboards, rollerblades and foot-powered scooters are treated as pedestrians. The definition of a pedestrian includes “a person in or on a wheeled recreational device or wheeled toy.”

The vehicle would not be able to see if any pedestrians were coming from the left hand side untill the bonnet of the car was past the edge of the building on the left.....I propose we knock the building down so that people on bikes and skateboards can be seen clearly when zooming through the pedestrian only (no bikes/scooters/skateboards) areas.

On leaving Mill Street I've driven slowly enough, taken due care and attention and had no difficulty seeing pedestrians, skateboards, cyclists and anyone else proceeding between Bridge Street and Greengate Street.
Driving licenses should be renewed every ten years with an appropriate driving test that includes knowledge of the highway code and an eyesight test.

Yeah I always come out of Mill Street on the assumption that someone is going to appear out of nowhere to be honest, it’s a completely blind road to emerge from
