Stafford Traffic.

It's not always this bad the Tixall road rat run is closed so everyone is having to divert through the town centre. And is only going to get worse as Queensway reduces to one lane for building works.the main problem with stafford traffic is the drivers not using the road as intended and the police who do nothing to improve poor driver behaviour jumping relights and blocking junctions

Took me ages to get from one end of Queensway to the other at about 5:30, and a fair bit of time to carry on down the Weston Road - traffic was stationary going the other way

My Dad used to commute everyday, it nearly always took him as long to drive across Stafford as it had to get from Wolverhampton to Stafford in the first place...

It's simply appalling, and it's going to get worse.

I'm also totally fed up of watching people go through red lights and driving onto a yellow box junction that already has other idiots stuck on it

They should start giving peoplee on the spot fines they are in the yellow box juntion for longer than 5 seconds like London

If Tesco mysteriously burnt to the ground and was rebuilt just north of the Shire Horse pub, on top of the new Morrison Debenhams stores which had been constructed on the new bus station ....

I notice that if I wait my turn at the lights coming off The Hough retail park trying to get onto the Lichfield road, the drivers on the Lichfield road just keep driving through their green light and drive onto the yellow box forming a queue with no consideration for those patiently waiting their turn from the other lights. Why do drivers think the rules apply to everyone else but not to them. Selfish people.

6th weekday in a row its taken me over an hour to travel from north stafford to south. What makes those numptys at the council think its a good idea to build a massive retail centre in the town centre when the road infrastructure clearly cant take it?
Thought it wasn't too bad yesterday. Left Wolverhamton Road (Rowley Park) at just after 5:00 stopped at ASDA for a bit of shopping and was in Eccy by 5:40

Also have to say it took me leaving north walls at 510 and to rowley park /bank area only in just over 15 mins. Thats with the aforementioned idiots constantly blocking access in the yellow box at the lights on queensway where asda is in view. To then get stuck through cars that are from the left (weston rd) joining queensway doing the same thing, roads blocked twice in the space of 30 yards. Thought stokie drivers were inconsiderate but some stafford drivers, wow.
if drivers stuck to the rules of the road traffic would at least be more fluid.
Without this issue I would have made the journey in 5mins less.

Northbound isn't too bad at the moment it's southbound that appears to be the issue.

Too many (badly timed) traffic lights & box junctions where there should be islands, diversions, inconsiderate drivers & very poor planning.

You car drivers realise it is YOU that is creating the traffic jams, not other people!!! Take some f*ckin responisbility for the jams YOU are causing, it's not the council filling the cars with roads, it's people who can't be arsed to walk or cycle a couple of miles.

Leave the car at home get on your pushbike or walk and the traffic jams would disappear. Especially if your journey is only from north Stafford to South Stafford.............jeez. Sounds like you'd get where you were going quicker, and you'd get fitter as well. WIn WIn

There was no traffic jams on my cycle to work this morning, there is never any traffic jams when I cycle anywhere in Stafford...........unsurprisingly. The footpaths are incredibly empty as well.

:D

The failure to build outer ring roads / bypasses many many years ago have led to these problems today, our Councils should have built them in the 60s or 70s. Now with all these new developments Stafford's traffic problems are not going to improve.

I've been riding to and from work in the town centre for the last 5 weeks. Yesterday at 5.30pm I travelled down the Lichfield Road all the way down to Queensville and over took 70 cars... definitely the way forward. In car I would get in for 5 to 6... on 2 wheels I'm back for 20 to!

Its times like these that I'm glad I don't work in Stafford any more...I leave at 0640hrs and return around 1815hrs everyday missing out on all of this fun & games.

Friday afternoon however was an eye opener....gridlocked going passed Asda around 1430hrs with some questionable driving etiquette and skills being shown off.

Though Saying that I do have to endure the M6.

The new roundabout on the Weston Road at Blackheath Lane has worked wonders. instead of queuing from the showground this morning (which is how i remember it being) it was all the way to the top of Weston Bank. Good work planners!
