Rugeley - Weston - Salt - Enson - Marston - Common Road - leave the car by the Tip and walk over the Common.
Somehow he's cut down by the Post Office club/shooting range, and is now stuck up by Matalan....

I'm thinking we may not be having a takeaway after all tonight....

Three hour delays remain, lane 4 is about to be reopened past the incident scene. Delays remain back to J12 northbound and J16 southbound.

I see they've come up with a nice improvement at the Halfords lights. Having gone to Lidl on the bike, I thought that the lack of detection to trigger the turn filters might just be down to me being on the bike, although it is a hefty steel one - but, no, even the proper car that tried to get out with me had no luck in triggering it, even with a couple of goes over the loop. I had the luxury of no number plate, so I was able to nip across in one of the many gaps that arrived whilst I waited fruitlessly on the way in and I had to give up and do the same on the way out, but the poor car driver was trapped there - maybe he still is?

The bloke manning the traffic lights at Castle Way earlier managed to hold up the traffic all the way back to Friar's Terrace. He waved me through on red when I came from the pharmacy. Was contemplating going to long way round after my Tesco trip to get back to the golf club for a meeting, but he'd gone home by then and they were working much better.

Enjoying a drop of red.

Ah the Newport Road. Always best avoided, in my opinion. My run home from Shrewsbury is now so much more pleasant when I avoid it by turning off at Bradley and going through Levedale and Penkridge.

I had my flu jab at a very unfortunate time. Normally I only travel that way at 7.30 on a Wednesday morning or at the weekends.

So last week i was walking Salt Avenue and noticed a shifty driver exiting Sabine Street in a Silver Toyota Yaris....imagine my surprise when we went to the bottom of Salt ave, mounted the pavement and drove around the bollards and onto the crossings estate.

I contacted the Police and got it logged but without any evidence there's little they can do (i'm fine with that).

A couple of days later i was walking along Siemens Road where I saw another Silver Yaris and like the first one this had an off number plate (3 letters followed by 4 numbers). I put the details in the DVLA website and it showed the car as having an expired MOT as of 22nd Sept.

In the following days i've been waling past again i've noticed its there at night but not there during the day, so clearly still being used...Tried to inform the Police of this....."you need to speak to the DVLA"....I tell them that the DVLA website says the police has to deal with it...

And they are telling me its only cars without any tax that get reported to the Police, which is wrong as I now you can do that with the DVLA !!

Ruddy frustrating !!!

A VW fox has been abandoned on Parkside Avenue for over a month now.

It was originally by Aldbury Close just off Beaconside and not really causing any major issues. It had stickers on it saying it had been reported.

On Sunday it was moved to here where anyone with a wheelchair or pram can't use the footpath. My friend had to go onto the road in her wheelchair to get around it.

It has a notice saying awaiting long distance recovery with Sunday's date but has no MOT. Why couldn't they leave in the shopping centre/pub car park where it is out of everyone's way?

I reported it to the council so I expect it will be there for the next 6 months at least.

There was a Silver 4 door Focus parked in the bit outside the old Herberts for ages. Back and side windows had been smashed in. To my knowledge the parking gnomes had given it 6 or 7 tickets.

Apparently the owner lives over 100 miles away, was taken ill just after it broke down hence it being there for so long..... I believe they are trying to get it moved soon. (I thought it was happening this week). 🤔

It has happened this week but all they've done is move it further down Parkside Avenue and blocked the footpath.

They could have easily pushed it another 50 yards and put it in the car park out of the way.

The reason behind it is irrelevant.

The car is blocking a footpath and because it has no MOT and as a consequence, invalid insurance, it is illegal to park it on the public highway.

I've reported it to the council as well as plod now.

ANPR is very efficient at spotting untaxed vehicles and enforcement is swift.

Number of enforcement actions for untaxed vehicles doubles since tax disc abolished

More than 1.2 million enforcement actions were issued for untaxed vehicles in 2019

There you go then, replacement methods of detection and enforcement have proven to be more efficient than traffic wardens spotting the wrong coloured disc. As wardens tend to operate within 'town areas' ANPR operators are active on all streets and have a better detection rate.
