Loads of road closures this Sunday for the Ironman. One I'm not sure about is the Weston Road which seems to have "Open Westbound" on it. So that means it is one way? only the whole road is marked green as an alternate route. I need to go toward Uttoxeter on Sunday so this event is a pain as it blocks off Baswich Lane/Tixall Road.
I think they have labelled it like that as tixall road is closed westbound therefore to use it as an alternative although it's not explained well...

'Open Westbound' means exactly that. If you are travelling in a westerly direction, then the road is open.

So if one needs to get to the Asda carpark on Sunday from Weston Road… what’s gonna be the best way to go about that exactly?

What time is the first Ironmanwoman due in town?

I'm asking for a fiend who wants to nail her ear to a tree

And then drive to RAF Cosford to pilot a whale

TIA 😊

Enjoying a drop of red.
Noticed when I drove past the event encampment on Unicorn way this morning that there were a number of CCTV surveillance vans parked up, no doubt with face recognition. Watch out if you don't want Big Brother spying on you any more than usual!

Good stuff. I think they put "Open Westbound" on there because Tixall Road says "Closed Westbound". Google maps has some of the closures marked but not all.
Yeah the map is honestly a mess if a design, it makes sense once you realise that the popouts are also colour coded but it’s still horribly unintuitive (and badly worded)

Stafford Borough Council, along with Newcastle Under Lyme Borough Council and Stoke on Trent City Council, were successful in securing more than £750,000 from a government fund aimed at supporting taxis and private hire cars to switch to less polluting vehicles.

The initiative will see electric vehicle charging points at several car parks run by Stafford Borough Council. And the council say the public will also be able to use the charging facilities when they go live later this month.
The money from the government’s ‘Low Emission Taxi Infrastructure Scheme,’ will result in thirty rapid chargers being installed across 15 car parks in the three local authority areas. SWARCO Smart Charging, one of the UK’s largest providers of charging facilities, will be supplying, installing, and maintaining the infrastructure as well as operating them.
Stone’s Crown Street car park is to gain the facilities along with car parks in Broad Street, Doxey Road, Victoria Park and North Walls in Stafford. Unfortunately, whilst the EV charging points in Stafford are likely to be available before the end of June – a live date in Stone is to be announced later in the year.
The charge points are 50kW rapid chargers with contactless payment, and while some of them will be open for public use, at least half will be reserved for the taxis and private hire

I can see 4 from my bedroom here in Castletown. 2 Policemen had to chase 3 school kids away from them last Wednesday evening. They've now been covered in black plastic, which looks like someone has already ripped.
