It is, essentially, a technicality and treating it as a One Way is probably a safer bet, for the general user.

Their algorithms may just assume that every No Entry results in a One Way, to avoid mistakenly not showing one with the 'safer error'.

Who knows?

There aren't very many of these about, as far as I know - and you are probably safer just going with the (one way) flow.

True, their route planning system probably couldn't cope otherwise.

All the major map providers (Google, Bing, TomTom, Apple etc) need to update their map then, because they have it marked as one way.
Not conclusive and maybe out of date but the 'turn left' arrow approaching the Weston Road along Hatherton Street suggests that nothing would, or maybe could, head eastwards from the start of the Tixall Road.

All this was discussed ten years ago...

Shall we meet again in 2032?

All that prevents you doing is turning right into Tixall Road, it does not make Tixall Road a One Way street. There are many occasions where you may not be allowed to turn in one direction into a two way street.

It's just paint on the road. There's a lot of meaningless paint on roads these days. Like the dashed line and crossed out section on that left turn. It's meaningless and you can drive right over it. Someone decided it would make the junction safer forcing a driver into a position where they can see better. Normally they would move the kerb and extend the pavement but paint is cheaper.

I've no idea what the current situation is, but there used to be (in the old days) two types of "ghost islands", ones with dashed outlines, which could be driven over with a reasonable excuse*, and ones with solid outlines, which needed a bloody good excuse for you to encroach onto them, but nobody seems to bother much about them now, at all - and I'm not even sure the solid-bordered ones still exist.

* I would, for instance, drift right onto the last bit of the central dashed area before a right-turn box, as at the Dog & Doublet junction, to avoid unnecessarily slowly down a car behind who is going straight on southwards there.

As for meaningless paint - I once spent a long time trying to find an official interpretation of the red band up the middle of Fairway, before giving up. I decided that it's just meant to frighten you a bit, in general.

If people have nothing better to do, they could look at the Prince of Wales car park exit onto the genuine One Way St Thomas Street and see the direction sign opposite - and compare that with the exit of the Metropolitan Bar's car park onto Tixall Road, with its lack of a sign.

It's basically the same as lines on the road. Broken means you can cross, solid means you can't. The fact they have chevrons and are wider is just to visually try to encourage people to stay in the lane and make the lanes narrower to get people to slow down.

They actually have a negative effect on cyclists as some people are unsure about crossing over them and it may mean the cyclist gets less room. Eg. Wildwood: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.7...4!1siAxNVrXl0JAEl-Es8C_lzA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

Of course, there's another reason they use them. Like Wildwood or the Milford Road, it's because there's traffic islands.

Lichfield Rd roundabout it s a joke with these temp lights

I've had people nearly run me over when on green, (by the way that takes a while to go green) I normally follow the traffic if said traffic stops then i'll cross and see traffic moving from other side.....

won't be long until there's a serious car crash or someone getting run over there.

No-one seems to know what they're doing...

I saw a mosaic sign on the A34 just now, I 'think' it said that there was going to be a full closure on/from the 19th of November.

I wasn't able to take notes and I wasn't left clear if it would be in both directions, but the sign I saw was on the northbound side, at the "new lights" - I rarely use it southbound anyway, due to the insane yellow humps. I'm also not sure how long the closure is intended to last.

It did say that you should "use alternate routes" - so, find two other routes, but don't use the same one twice in a row.

Which bits of the A34? Or do you mean the entirety of the A34 which would be a big mother of a road closure?

The information was not presented in a manner that would allow a full understanding, but my guess would be that it is from Redhill roundabout, northwards through the current construction zone, possibly up to the first roundabout in Stone, apart from access to premises from that end - and it's probably in both directions.

All that is subject to whatever actually happens, or doesn't.

However, I really don't know, my post was really just a general warning for those who find themselves using this route regularly to keep an eye out for information for their own benefit.

As long as it's not the South end of town...

Walton lane is closed for a couple of days (until 9th). Although not sure how far. Signs were up on the Sawpit Lane end.

Night time closures around the A51/A518 junctions from tonight (7/11) until the 17th. I’m not certain of the times but it’s about 7pm till about 6 am so all night (ish). It’s both sides & all lanes of the A51 & all lanes of the A518 on the Weston & the Uttoxeter sides. The posted diversions are pretty extensive but if you know where you’re going you can get past via Gayton etc or Salt & Weston (Green Lane)
