I walked the dogs around 6.15. Policeman I spoke to said excess speed was involved. Was at the junction with Holmcroft Road
They speed dangerously on our street/corner as it's now used as Balfour's rat run, next doors car was hit yet again a few days ago as we have ice and black ice even when everywhere else is clear....glad our cars are off the rd now (on our makeshift drive), & we don't have to park Infront of the house.

I'd like to say someone who can change anything cares or would like to help, but I'd be lying. Literally no one in power gives a sh*t :(

Received a letter about the Beaconside roadworks which are about to start and last for 12'months.

Wouldn't fancy being in one of the Marston Grange houses facing these works for that long though.

At least we'll get a set of traffic lights to be able either exit out of Parkside once it's all finished.

Looks like the A34/A513 roundabout will have traffic lights as well.

I'm hoping that there will be some co-ordination between the three sets of lights to keep traffic moving but somehow doubt it.

A recently signed plan can be downloaded from here https://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/Highways/roadworks/stafford/S111-A513-Beaconside.aspx

Now you really are being silly. You’re forgetting who’s coordinating all this 😉
Fair point.

With the four sets of traffic lights over such a short distance I can them causing all sorts of traffic backlogs if their operation isn't planned properly.

You've got to set your hopes high even though you realise that our planners will no doubt once again demonstrate their totally inept competence in anything to do with Stafford planning.

For those planning to travel between Stone and Stafford on the 11th of February – the A34 will be closed both ways to all traffic for a duration of 90 minutes, between 7-11am as an abnormal load comes through the roadworks between the Redhill roundabout to Yarlet Lane.

Saw a sign past Holmcroft junction tonight saying 'Roadworks start here on 20th Feb for 12 months, apologies for any delays/inconvenience' or summat like that. This is going to cause a heck of a lot of inconvenience, they love roadworks up by that Redhill roundabout. Sounds like there'll be roadworks before the roundabout, roadworks at the roundabout & roadworks past the roundabout whilst they're still lethargically building the new Pets at Home distribution centre roundabout on the A34. This is going to be a nightmare. I can't see sticking permanent traffic lights on the Redhill roundabout and a few extra lanes will help. They need to sort out the queues that form on the A513 that back onto the Redhill roundabout especially in the morning - this prevents the Southbound traffic entering the roundabout - causing massive queues all the way back to the top of Yarlet bank on some occasions. You can have coordinated traffic lights or uncoordinated lights🚦 on the A34/A513 roundabout but if they don't sort this problem out, it won't matter.

Are there still temporary traffic lights on the A513 letting people out of the newly created Marston Grange that change to red for ages for no reason or to let one car out? That's the root of the problem - get rid of them and let people judge for themselves when to turn onto the main road, we don't need to be spoon fed!

Let's introduce some danger & risk!

I'm probably wrong, but I'm sure I saw a sign today that the Stone Road is shutting for 6 months? From Holmcroft Road to Redhill roundabout?
Further down too...all the way through Bristol Street motors I believe. Although the letter I saw said from 22nd feb

I think the bit being worked on for 6 months is the bit from Holmcroft Road to the top by the Shire Horse. That's deffo what is was planned to be when I spoke to our pointless cllr. Its totally possible that it's changed to create as much pointless mayhem as possible though.

I assumed the one night was while they install the means to create carnage, lights signs etc. I'm still scarred by the incomprehensible shit show the closure of the roundabout caused a few years ago and how little responsibility for ensuing carnage anyone took :(
