Stafford Walking Street- Music/Food Festival · 30 m ·

It is with deep regret that I have decided to place Stafford Walking Street on hold until the Halloween Street Party event on Thursday 26th October and the Christmas Walking Street on Thursday 14th December when the Market Square will be finished
The anti social behaviour that it happening in the town centre is something that I am not prepared to put anyone through; the stewards, security or the public, many of our regular attendees who usually stay for the duration left during Walking Street on Thursday. The more these teenagers were asked to dismount their bikes and walk through the more they continued, spouting verbal abuse, they had an absolute and total disregard for young toddlers and children, elderly, babies in prams, disabled and everyone really, it was a continuous battle trying to keep people safe and to try and stop them weaving in and out of the tables, pulling wheelies in front of people.
For the first time ever in 20 years in the events game I have ever had to call the police but when the security and three male stewards we’re ‘faced off’ on Tipping Street by 10/12 approx 15 year old who where taunting and jeering knowing there is little they could do, that’s when Steve a regular doorman in the town for many years and our head of security called the police. So an event where people were always laughing and joking and having a great time with a brilliant atmosphere turned into a fraught occasion for many, even with our efforts make it look as if all was running smoothly.
I have a duty of care for everyone who is on site and I cannot place anyone in this position. I think its best all round if we place Stafford Walking Street on hold while this issue is addressed. This is your event and I hope you all agree with this decision
Market Square works are hopefully due to finish in September and then we can ‘get back ‘our 4,000 to 6,000 attendees and come back with a bang in October and December!
We will still go ahead with our other events and would love to see you at Party on the Pitch at Stafford Town FC Riverway Saturday 20th May 12 to 7.30 where we will be raising funds for the club and local charities with live music, street food, the British Beer Company and funfair as well as free football taster sessions from 11am before the main event for boys & girls ages 4 to 11
£5 for adults £2 Children under 2 years old free admission. Free parking
Kids Are Us on Sunday 25th June at The White Eagle Club 1pm – 4pm free admission
Dates for Stafford Walking Street 2024
9th May, 15th June, 11th July, 8th Aug, 12th Sept, 31st Oct Halloween Street Party, 12th Dec Christmas Walking Street.

Dear Theo

We were wondering if you'd like a photo opportunity outside McDonalds in Stafford Town Centre, any afternoon or evening you'd like, really, to see the result of 13 years of Tory Government and Council policy.

As is usual for you, just put a yellow hard hat on and point at the Market Square refurbishments - and get the caption to say "This is levelling up" in action. There's no need for a timelapse sequence - the glacial progress will be too slow to see any difference over a fortnight - apart from shovel-leaners, project managers with clipboards and zero County Councillors monitoring progress every now and then. It would be great if you could get a member of the Council to pop along and explain (if they can negotiate the barriers) why they approved, and now have abdicated responsibility for such an outrageous waste of council tax payers money.

The camera could then cut to a hoody-wearing feral youth, demonstrating a wheelie and forcing an elderly couple to take evasive action. You can then explain to us how 12 years of austerity with cuts to all of our services have resulted in higher taxes, Trebling of National Debt and impossible household bills, and have resulted in a total absence of Police in our County Town, with the result being to have allowed a local business market like this to call time and close, through total lack of action.

Perhaps you might also like to bring some more Tory MP's up to see the market square in action in the evenings? I'm sure HMS Mordaunt, 30p Lee and Mr Gullis would be happy to give us their inputs.

And maybe you could get your Uncle Jacob Rees-Mogg to visit, complete with his Victorian hat to explain to us how better off we all are with this Government, and how we should all be starting offshore Hedge Funds to give us a living and not pay any tax.

It's only the foodbanks and charities that are keeping some of your voters going - but you won't be visiting those, will you?

Some of us can remember when we had an NHS we were proud of, encouraged diversity and hard-working visitors to our country, and when it was safe to walk the streets. We've almost given-up on trying to drive on Staffordshire's roads, as the council seem to have abandoned all pot-hole repairs. They are quite simply ignored.

And perhaps the Tory County Council member with the Highways portfolio could also pop-along with a yellow hat - if he's not too busy attending an awards ceremony for Amey

I've heard that someone has sent a bubble up to the National Press and Sky about the fact that the yobs have won -maybe think about what you're going to wear when the cameras start rolling....

Of course, the austerity cut children's services too, so if youth clubs etc had stayed open the 'yobs' probably wouldn't even be a thing.

On Saturday afternoon I saw 2 police community officers chatting to 3 "yoofs" on bikes outside wh Smith. One of the little shits appeared to be recording it on his phone. I was tempted to mention it to the officer...

Crackdown on cyclists flouting rules in Staffordshire

Bikes have been seized in Stafford town centre days after anti-social behaviour prompted event organisers to put a popular food and and music festival on hold.
A police spokesperson said a number of bikes were seized and tickets were issued to those breaching the conditions of the order. Police have also identified an individual believed to have been involved in the recent disorder, the spokesperson added, and police “will be taking appropriate action.

#NEWS: Local officers are continuing to patrol key areas in #Stafford in response to the community’s recent concerns around anti-social behaviour.
Stafford Borough local policing team (LPT) has carried out daily uniformed patrols in the town centre in partnership with officers from Stafford Borough Council.
This has resulted in more than 10 individuals being issued with fixed penalty notices for breaching the public space protection order which is in operation in the town centre. These breaches involved individuals cycling through the pedestrianised area of the town, which is prohibited as part of the order.
As part of this, a total of four people have been interviewed and referred to the Youth Offending Team for partnership intervention to educate them and discourage their involvement in future offending.
The young person involved in starting the fire at the old Co-op building has also been interviewed and referred to the Youth Offending Team.
Most recently, on Saturday (20 May), officers used a drone to help identify anyone congregating on roof tops and throwing roof tiles in the town centre.
We have also addressed a small number of incidents of drug-taking and alcohol consumption in the area.
Stafford Borough LPT Inspector, Tim Norbury, said: “These are just some of the preventative and proactive measures we have been using to help address some of the concerns raised to us by local residents.
“We will continue to carry out high-visibility patrols and conduct planned operations throughout the coming weeks in order to reassure the community and deter anyone who may be responsible to anti-social behaviour in the town.”

Need undercover patrols to arrest them & throw away the key!

250,000th poster!
Could do with a few youth clubs for them to have stuff to do too.
Agree. But things are different from the 70's, 80's & 90's when we were kids. For me it was Youth club twice a week, swimming on Saturday morning, roller disco Thursday night & Saturday afternoon....with intermittent guides/tap dance/ school sports events. I don't think there's much like that any more
..film club /days out /activity with school in the holidays (I think it was called space scheme in Staffordshire, we had equivalent in west mids).

No, that's kinda my point, all the funding for that sort of stuff has been cut. More police will help but the root of the problem is the kids are bored.
Didn't the police also run a holiday scheme for kids? I'm pretty sure they did in Coventry
