They started in 1966, well before some of you on here were even thought of I think.

I believe @Gramaisc was in his mid 50s around then.
So he might remember the Go-Jos. Pans People didn't remain on the show till '82, they were replaced in 76, briefly by Ruby Flipper then by Legs & Co. Had stopped watching it sometime in the '70s so dates might be a bit out.

Pans Peoples last dance was to The Four Seasons song Silver Star.
I'm not old enough remember the Go-Jos, but I do remember Cherry Gillespie joining Pans in 1972, unwrapped as a present, then they all danced to Harry Nillsons Without You.
I would have loved be a dancer, but 2 left feet and Mum couldn't afford dance lessons for one, nevermind the 3 of us. What one got spent on them, the others did too.

‘Oh Boy’ (1959) closely followed by ‘Boy meets Girl’ were the first of those saturday evening pop shows . . . er, so I’m told.

I believe that, historically, a lot of areas were named with the suffix of Drain in lower areas and Stafford had a few, with the area of the old gas works/Doxey Road brook, being known as Pans Drain. I think the boggy area down the side of the Access Road must now be the main existing area of this as some of the brook was seemingly diverted if you look over the area, where there's a number of channels.
