Can see my house on there!

I do have to say though, I am loving the difference in traffic since the new road has opened up. Don't feel like I'm taking my life into my own hands when crossing the road outside here anymore. It still attracts the knobheadwankstainarseholeLewisHamilton types. Can't wait for it to be fully open, deep joy!

It even looks like there's space for Davey boy's caravan and horse on the grass bit at the Doxey road end as well 😱😱

Is it ever going to be finished? Autumn 2021 is the supposed completion date - that's now!

If you run some wistful mood music over that drone footage of the Western Access Route it feels like the opening to a Netflix drama.

I walked to a meeting at the Rigby Club last week and it's rare I walk round the Doxey Road but the last house on the corner of Doxey Road and North Castle Street has had it's wall partly taken out. Just wonder of 'the council' would help those residents with the cost of a reinforced wall if large vehicles are going to be regularly squeezing round that corner? A few vehicles have been damaged already due to large vehicles being forced through a narrow one way route.

Sons was damaged a while back due to a van going the wrong way down North Castle st. And a week or so ago, there was a drunk driver took out a Ford Focus and a transit van down same street.

Yes, I believe a lot has happened almost on my doorstep and I've only heard second hand! A friend often messages me with "Its going off on NCS!"

There's been a series of fires set in the empty houses at the end, (on the corner bit) right next door to my lads home! A rogue electrical fire was blamed at one time, but then an accelerant was found about the place. Him and the Mrs have had enough and are looking to move out next year. I will be very sad to lose them from round here, but their safety comes first.
I don't hear about half that happens here, can't say I want to either.

Took a drive a week or 2 back on this road. Can't understand why the last small piece of it isn't open yet.

It should have been open but, just like with many businesses, there are supply issues with material for the safety barriers on the elevated stretch. When I walked over it looked like that was now well under way and the material was being installed. The update we had in September spoke about this and mentioned hopefully opening in November once the delayed works were complete.

Its odds on that the new road will have quite a queue at the Halfords end as traffic has to wait to exit onto Foregate st.
Time will tell of course.

But those heading north, as most there will, would know that rather than queuing facing the former Kings Head it'll be quicker nipping up Greyfriars Place and turning left onto Greyfriars just short of the Waggon and Horses.

Before you know it that cut through will be blocked by traffic or the council will step in to prevent it.
To my mind the logical step was to have a roundabout there but that is now not going to happen & pedestrian crossings etc may have been an issue as well hence there is not one ?
