I haven’t been to Burston for about 20 years but the last time I looked it only had one pub and no shops at all so I’m not sure that it will be big enough for you (your first post said pubs and shops).

However @Gramaisc goes weekly so I’m sure he’ll clarify when he comes along.
Shops are so last century.

Sandon's only a short walk/drive away. I think that has a shop and it definately has a good pub in the Dog and Doublet.

Even if there is something for rent in Burston it's going to be for substantially more than £600pm though.

This house has been for sale for a couple of years - if it's not three bedroomed, then you could rip out the kitchen for the third one and just nip over the road for meals.

It's worth proceeding over the railway to the main part of the village.

Can this post and the other for Burston be merged please? It's a request from the same person(s) and will probably contain the same messages from people.

I grew up in Penkridge. Its a very nice village, however in my opinion it no longer has any decent pubs I'm afraid.

At best the pubs are now very average and the beer quality is inconsistent.

I rarely visit the penkridge pubs anymore because of the above reason.

If I was looking to live in a decent sized village near to Stafford I would choose eccleshall.

Freehold owned by Star (Heineken), leased and operated by the Neil Morrissey Pub Co Ltd which also leases and runs the Plume of Feathers. Neil Morrissey Pub Co Ltd directors are Neil Anthony Morrissey, Richard Slingsby and John George Sykes. Technically they own the business not the pub but ... The three are also directors of the MSW Pub Co Ltd.

Thanks all. We're still struggling to find a suitable property to rent. As soon as we find somewhere, they say "No Pets". Unfortunately my Wife has a small Terrier Dog. The agencies don't always put this in the ads! Still keeping our fingers crossed@

You may have more luck with private landlords rather than through an agency but I've no idea how they advetise nowadays.

Not that it adds anything of relevance, but would you really call Penkridge a 'village'?

I'd think it a small town really, wouldn't you? Bit sprawly for a village, what?

Just don't tell some of the old stick in the mud residents clique that you think it is a town. It would be better off if it had the status of a town but they want to live in a village.
