strange letter

I just received a very strange letter from china lol . Basically saying that someone with same name as me died in 2002 and they want my help to secure funds and give me 1.75 million usd. my full name , address and dob are even on the letter.
Has anyone else ever had anything like this ?

I'm more worried about how they have my details . Although could sure do with sone free money !

Electoral roll data will give your name and address, and DOB is readily available for purchase...

Definitely do not respond in any way shape or form as you'll be confirming your existence by doing so - which could then lead on to identity theft or anything!!

These scams are extremely popular by email - although I've not heard of anyone receiving a letter by snail-mail yet.

Don't listen to this miserable lot, I had a letter like yours, I only wanted them to lend me the initial fees and not one volunteered, even though i promised to give it back plus 10% when the money went into my account, you seem a affable fellow maybe you would like to lend me a couple of grand so I can get my Spanish winnings, just contact me at my address in the Bahamas.
