Sounds a bit on the expensive side. The wife had her sister visit a couple of weeks ago & she was charged £4.50 from the station to ST17 (Manor Estate), which comes in at just under a mile longer than your journey.

Google maps will give you a route if you enter the postcodes into the 'get directions' box.

Quickest route would be down Prospect, on to Crooked Bridge, passed the prison, across roundabout passing Sainsbury on to Tenterbanks/Victoria Road and then reach the station.
Could go down Corporation, Lammascote and A34 then to the Newport Road to get to the station but it is about 0.1 miles longer.
Don't know how much a taxi should take or how much it would be ... I would go the first route I mentioned! Seven pounds sounds a bit steep!

I get it to 1.4 miles via Gaol Square, which is 4 of your earth pounds. If it was a hackney, and they left it on the "open meter" setting (which clocks waiting time in traffic) that might explain it.

This is assuming 4 people in sociable hours. Between midnight and 6am (7am for some companies), or more that 4 people would push this to about 6 quid.

Westside are doing ringback now, so you might want to store this number in your phone: 01785 242118 (you can't call that number, so store it as "Westside Ringback" or something similar.

Or if you have a smarty-pants phone that can handle contacts delivered via QR code, point your phone at this:

What is frightening is,when you ring up for a taxi, and the bloke on end of the phone says- "oh,it's you".
You should really be on the radio duck, you have just the right face voice for it. :D
