She hasn’t bragged about her vote on shipping s##t into our waterways, has she?
I mean, it’s not like the town is on low lying land where flooding could lead to serious health issues!

Theo Clarke MP statement on Beaconside

Tuesday, 7 February, 2023

Theo Clarke

Theo Clarke MP for Stafford has written to the immigration minister asking him to intervene and stop an appeal by Serco to house asylum seekers at former student accommodation in the town.
The company has appealed a decision by Stafford Borough Council last summer to turn down the plans to house nearly 500 people at Beaconside. At the time, 250 local people objected to the plans.
Mrs Clarke has now contacted Robert Jenrick.
“Following a huge number of local residents who have contacted me to express their concerns, I have written to the immigration minister asking him to intervene to stop the appeal by Serco to house asylum seekers at Beaconside,” the MP said.
“I know Stafford is ready to welcome those seeking refuge but the sheer numbers that could be housed and its central location will have an adverse effect on our community.
“The council raised its concerns last year too about the volume of people in such a small area and the lack of services to support them.
“Stafford has welcomed people while their asylum status is determined. It is playing its part but this appeal would lead to an enormous expansion of places to the detriment of the community. There have already been concerns raised about anti-social behaviour and crime regarding a local hotel housing asylum seekers.”

She added: “The migration number we house at the moment is 137 spread across accommodation in the district. Beaconside will house 482 in two different categories in one place in a small market town. I do not think this can be right for Stafford or its residents.”

"The council raised its concerns last year too about the volume of people in such a small area and the lack of services to support them".

I wonder why we have a lack of services and who's not providing them then?

And it's not just asylum seekers that need the services.

At what point will the behaviour of our rulers bring even more numbers to the streets. Many of the protests already made are either blacked out or isolated incidents are magnified to suit their own agendas. Our own "representative" has whole heartedly bought into their narrative with her voting record.
The very letter above smacks of nimbyism rather than bringing a solution or she'd be campaigning for solutions such as stopping the trafficking, safe border control and processing and caring for humans properly! She's as bad as the rest!

It wouldn't surprise me if she's working on signing us up for LTNs while we she enjoys freedom of a country home!

Anyway Theo....

I've just donated £xx to the DEC Turkey/Syria relief fund, which I see the Tory government are going to match pound-for-pound up to a (have I got this right?) total of £5 million? Thunderstruck- a few quid extra for these people, but what happens when we hit the 5 mill limit?

Call me gobsmacked, and bat me over the head with a Brexit-enhanced cod, but didn't your mate Dido chuck 37 Bill (not mill) at a test and trace system that we are all still waiting for?

I've had a schoolboy run over the percentages and it seems that 5 mill divided by 37 bill = 5,000,000 / 37,000,000,000 = .01%

Maybe your ace worker-outer of costs (30p Lee Anderson) could check the sums for me - he's a whizz at telling nurses, doctors, teachers and whoever that they should budget properly and not use food banks to supplement their wages

Sorry, side-tracked there, and I've been diverted off point - as Mr Zahawi must have been when submitting his tax returns... Anyway, they've just jailed Jared O'Mara for 4 years for diddling 24K of expenses. Let's hope the scales of justice weigh evenly on all errant MP's eh - especially those non-dom offshore types paying penalties?

Where was I?

Oh yes, we were reviewing the 5 mill cap on like-for-like donations - and I note that both you and 30p Lee have claimed over 300K each for staff costs for the past 2 years. so 600,000 / 5,000,000 = 12% of the earthquake government matching fund.

No don't get me wrong, you have an office to run, photo opportunities to schedule, social media to monitor, and Google Maps research into exactly where Stafford is located - all of which takes hours of office time - anyway good luck with the claims and hope the necessary hundreds of thousands have successfully been received at your bank account.

I've gone off track again haven't I...?

I've got an appointment for my chronic condition up at the hospital tomorrow, and the nurses and doctors are still there- bloody amazing if you ask me, considering they are 30-40% understaffed? Which reminds me - who went to jail for the Stafford hospital scandal, and why haven't we still got a 24-hour A and E five years after the Francis enquiry?

Beats me too

I've had a glass of wine now, so I'm veering off course onto small boats and asylum seekers - and I see you've taken the Farage perspective on these people. Yep, we don't need these potential nurses, carers and illegals in, do we? - our schools, hospitals, Police and council services are running on fresh air thanks to 10 years of Tory austerity - and for what, I hear you rightfully and service -threateningly shout Theo?

All those 10 years of Cameron-we're-all-in-it-together austerity reduced our debt pile to errr... (checks notes).....record levels

In closing, can I just say we value and treasure every visit you make to our poor little town.

God save the Rishi and God save 30p Lee !!

Heart breaking that whatever way you look at current troubles where lack of funding and systems are key, you can easily come back to "but what about ABC being massively wealthy" or "but they paid £XYZ to ABC and nobody batted an eyelid" even though many of us did!!
There is always money for what they want to spend it on. War, backhanders and corruption are always covered while welfare and the general public are ignored. As the whole Covid thing fades away there will be even more questions asked about more people getting rich!

I think I can safely say, on behalf of all her constituents, how proud we are to have her as our MP.

Clearly she made the effort to come up to the constituency for the photo...

I have to say I was never bothered about the maternity leave, that’s her right as an employer of her majesty’s government and all that, it’s a slippery slope to essentially prevent MPs from having kids while in the role.

I was bothered by her ability to still go out for photo ops while on maternity leave, but not actually do any work.
