Thanks, Theo.

I was bothered by her ability to still go out for photo ops while on maternity leave, but not actually do any work.
But surely that means she's working just as hard on maternity leave as before she was pregnant? She deserves a few more new jobs!

"Career Politician!" followed by "Got a new job. Screw you, Stafford!"
As she climbs, she'll cost us more as I'm assuming there will be a bigger home down South and the Staffordshire home to maintain.

I have to say I was never bothered about the maternity leave, that’s her right as an employer of her majesty’s government and all that, it’s a slippery slope to essentially prevent MPs from having kids while in the role.

Maybe photo ops continue to be her work.

Proposed Change of Use - Stafford Court, Beaconside. Heard a bit of Prime Minister Question Time, Theo asked a question, sorry don't have any more information above that, PM replied saying he understood there were concerns amongst her constituents, but said he would be looking into their concerns! He did however say it was good to see her back at work !!!!!

That's a very long maternity leave. It's lasted 4 years. I look forward to her now back at work. I'm sure she is going to be amazing and not just look for a photo opportunity.....and pigs might fly!

I heard this on BBC midlands news earlier. Apparently she’s very disappointed & is going to appeal to the wanking file members. At least I think that’s what Nick said.

Oh crap, that means Boris is going to be parachuted in
Or a Tory who might actually be "working hard for Stafford" ? Every silver lining ...........
Theo's "I'm not a career politician" claim makes sense now.

They're tories
"Ms Clarke was one of dozens of MPs whose resignations ultimately led to Mr Johnson having to stand down as prime minister.
There is speculation that those MPs who played a part in Mr Johnson's downfall are now facing a backlash from Tory grassroots".
So not about having taken six months maternity leave or how hard she hasn't been "working for Stafford" then ?
All down to the "Tory grassroots" who replaced Jeremy Lefroy locally and chose Liz Truss nationally. What sort of people are these ?
I wonder if her Uncle Jacob thinks she should have employed a nanny and carried on "working" as normal.

Enjoying a drop of red.

Surely her taking maternity leave is not an issue for anybody? She's perfectly entitled to.

My issue with her is that she is totally shite as an MP. Frankly, I couldn't care less what the actual reasons of the local association were for getting rid of her, I'm just glad she is (hopefully) going.

However, given that the same people who chose her will be choosing her successor, gives me little confidence that they will choose anyone more competent or local to the constituency and seeing as the Conservative candidate will almost certainly be successful in Stafford, that is a major cause of concern.

As I said earlier...
There are more important people than her who will be looking for safer seats...

There is a distinct danger of Stafford being used as a lifeboat.

As irrelevant as she has been, just someone to toe the line for the 'better' people, Stafford could end up with some real tosser, possibly even her uncle, who is under some threat at 'home'...

Tory loyalty is a strange thing, usually 100% reliable, yet she had the highest public vote in living memory in Stafford, dumping her without a plausible ulterior motive seems an unlikely course.
