An earlier version of the list had tick boxes for vegetarian and vegan beside each beer which were filled in with information from the brewers. One brewer apparently thought that their beers were suitable for vegans but not vegetarians!

Some beer is suitable for Vulcans - of both types.

Vegetarian friendly beers revisited. A lot of brewers are now producing unfined beers which are suitable for vegetarians. In appearance they may be clear but normally range from hazy to cloudy. If in doubt ask the person serving, but they may not know, a few pump clips are labelled unfined. If it smells or tastes bad it is a crap pint not an unfined one. List of some unfined beers below. Wetherspoons occasionally stock some, or ask your friendly local licensee if he can stock some. Some brewers can get overenthusiastic with their descriptions. This list includes a lot of autumn/winter seasonal beers, the brewers produce other seasonal beers and many produce a larger range of standard beers, "google" the brewery to get a full list of their beers. Or just "google" unfined beers (other search engines are available). ***** Character limit to posts. several posts may be necessary

@Noah bit of a beer head?
Good work!

I like the sound of Offbeat, Disfunctional Functional IPA and (as i now have hot drinks without animal milk, or in the case of Earl Grey no milk at all, who knew!?) i like the sound of Marble's Earl Grey.

...Barman!

You tell someone (because you've had too, or needed too, for whatever reason!) and suddenly you've met a nutritionist.

Suddenly these people (mostly family and friends) are experts in the field of protein, vitamins and iron deficiency, dairy and meat farming and the fishing industry.
Suddenly they try to give arguments towards why we have to eat animals and whatever the animal produces in its short little life, we have to have.
Suddenly they care more for me than they ever have, like i've stopped eating animals and animal products, so they have to try and claw me back to their side, which is of course, is the normal side.
Suddenly, they are defending their actions, over mine.

Oh boy.

Spot on!!

I'm a veggie attempting to go Vegan, daughter is a vegan, we are very pro animal welfare in all spheres, so anti the hunt shoot fish brigade. The other day I met one of her friends Dads. He's a dairy farmer!!! it was a very awkward conversation I have to say!!

"Hi, which is your daughter"
"Yeah Hi, that one there, she's the vegan"
"OH"
"Why is she vegan"
Few sentences about our animal wekfare concerns....
"But it's better to take calves away from the cow soon after birth to prevent bonding".................right, I needed to escape this conversation, so changed the subject to Prosecco, as everyone was drinking it!!! I knew he was never going to see my animal welfare issues as valid and I would never relate to the dairy industrys exploitation of cows.

Little later......

Stroking family dogs I asked if the farmer had collies.
"No, we have springers, I shoot"

Talk about being polar opposites!!

The best argument I was ever given as to why we should eat meet came from my boss who said

"Think of all the cows you are taking life away from, all the ones not yet born because you aren't prepared to eat them"!!!! Speechless

Why would you need to point it out?

Why not just say "That's my daughter over there"

It's almost as if by pointing out that she's a vegan to a dairy farmer you were deliberately trying to provoke.

I've lots of friends who are veggie but they respect others views.

I've never known them to force their opinions on to others.

Going vegan not only ensures you give empathy towards animals, but makes you feel like applying (much needed) empathy for all manner of minorities and vocieless, who or whatever they are.

I opt for the (when in the presence of the possibly ill-informed/apathetic folk) pointing them in the direction of Simon Amstell's Carnage or Yuval Noah Harari's Sapiens and Homo Deus books.

If after watching and reading those, they feel the same way as they have always felt, then (in my eyes) there's no hope for them, nor the animals they consume.

The general public (or ya kids mate's Dads) isn't a problem for me, it's the friends and family i find difficult to deal with.

Perhaps Kyo had to point her out because the guy couldn't read?

Just been in Austria for a fortnight, and its remarkable how much different attitudes are out there - there are ample sections of vegan options in supermarkets (even the smaller ones put our big chains to shame), and pretty much every town has at least one Vegan restaurant.

T'was a refreshing change of pace.

According to a bloke from New Guinea, who grew up in a cannibal tribe until they were finally contacted when he was about twenty five and they were then persuaded to give it up, the choice cut is the forearm of a woman, should we get any more specialist food vendors in the town.
