Thawa Bridge.

wanna see my snake?
Just looked and saw Thawa Bridge on just eat, thought I'd order direct instead to save them the fees but prices are all over the place. Starters seem cheaper direct, specials are quite a bit cheaper on just eat.

Tonight, being hungry and with little in the house, and it being early on a Tuesday evening, I decided to risk being sneaked in for a sit-down nosh-up.

Abdul was on duty and the place was quiet, although you could have cooked the nans on the phone.

I knew what I was having and settled down with my standard Tsingtao - in honour of Gunther Plüschow, the only German POW ever to escape from the UK back to Germany - indeed, his escape started in what is now the city of Qingdao. A German colony at that time, he escaped from there as the Japanese occupied it, them being on the other side in Round 1.

I elected for a Chicken Thawa which arrived in its usual impressive fashion, emulating a volcanic caldera. The current 'lad' issued me with two warnings - "That dish is very hot" and "Take your time!".

I managed everything but about a quarter of the nan - as I was finishing, eventually, the advance guard of another party arrived, in a St John's Ambulance jacket - I felt safer at this point, as I felt that I was close to needing that sort of assistance.

As I left, Abdul insisted on giving me an After Eight 'wafer thin mint' - this seemed somewhere between a challenge and a threat - I brought it home, rather than take the risk of an explosion...

Looks lovely, we've never tried Thawa Bridge, but it may well be next on the list.

Tonight....

Take away from........ 🥁 Thawa Bridge! Thank you to @Gramaisc for the recommendation.... We had...

Chicken pathia
Chicken thawa
Keema rice
Keema naan

And soomhow a huge amount of free saag aloo and papadoms! There was originally only 2 of us, but minime came home early and there was more than enough for the 3 of us.

Delicious.... The Pathia isn't 'quite' the same as Narvarnas, but I think it can be worked on & the other items were delicious! More added garlic & chilli next time, but we will definatly order from there again.

We love Thawa Bridge, especially Abdul. Abdul is such a lovely man that genuinely loves his customers. He always seems to go the extra mile for them. A fantastic man.
Absolutely agree with you 500%. Great bloke, great service, great food, great value.

The one thing that always amazes me is how he can remember every customers name including all of our Forum names😂 How does he do it?

The only criticism I could possibly make is his mistaken belief in a certain football team from the wrong city 😂😂😂😂 But he is very knowledgeable about the sport and we do have some really good conversations despite his poor choice of team.
