It might be a devious psychological trick.

Hans Kirschstein painted his Fokker triplane with stripes that were a bit 'off-line', with the intention of making its track less 'visible' to attacking pilots. The idea was that it would make it look like he was going a bit to one side of his actual trajectory.

He almost survived the war, dying in a flying accident in June 1918, in a different plane flown by another pilot. The plane went on to be flown by Ernst Udet, who survived WW1.

So, let's see if these shirts work, eh....

I think we've just signed him as a full back :)

If the paintwork on the plane was successful in confusing the pilots of attacking aircraft, would this suggest that players in the strip might have difficulty in making accurate passes to each other?

Always handy to have an excuse ready...

It's United so they don't need any excuse for that...

That was 1996 at the Dell :)

We fielded a 4th team. You have no excuse :bum:

So a friendly as opposed to a competitive cup competition means more then?

You were extremely lucky to beat Leeds yesterday and with defences like yesterday it bodes for an interesting season.

It could be an entertaining season if nothing else :)

I’ll admit I know very little about football but I can’t help feeling that this may have strayed slightly off-topic.
