The brighter side of lockdown

Today, I have almost certainly driven further than on any other day this year.

It was a multi-facetted errand of mercy.

Stage One was to take my local publican for the first physiotherapy session to run in his new shoulder.

It is a small hospital, about twelve miles away, along the lines of the old "cottage hospitals" that were around years ago.

The nice flowers at this establishment are a good signpost for approaching the hospital entrance opposite, which can otherwise become visible at the last moment.

It may not be immediately apparent, as there are no works vehicles there, but it is the Garda divisional headquarters. Only given away by the nice lamppost and the blue paint on the doors.

The hospital itself is quite a nice place, I had a stroll round the well-kept and interesting gardens.

From there, for Stage Two, we went on about another twenty miles to pick up the supplies. We passed this, as we approached the depot. I initially thought it was a bus shelter, but it is the Garda station - in a place with a population of 366, including the surrounding rural area.

Not manned 24 hours, but handy if you get arrested when it's raining.
