The brighter side of lockdown

proactive

Enjoying a drop of red.
I spotted a short section of road within the 5km which has been traversed previously, but not during the 5km restriction period, so that was achieved today.

It is not a heavily used section of the road network.

There is a road which runs fairly parallel to The Outer Limit and about 100 to 200m out into The Outside World - I might risk trying that next.
Obviously not used by many three-wheelers.

The occasional three-wheeler does come to the squad's attention...

Wasn't the camp on the opposite side of the valley...
The camp extended across the ridge to what we now know as Chase Road Corner - at which, from what i understand, was the terminus of the railway.

If there was a gravity system from there, it could have taken waste straight down the other side of Oldacre valley to that site.

TBH I'm amazed we haven't had someone who has been all...

... about it.

I'm out of my element, someone must know right?

I was trying to orientate that with Google Earth to locate Freda's Grave when I saw it's actually marked on that map. (I had some association with the finding of it back in the 60's.) Also some of the paths mark out the run of the military railway line by the look of it. :)

You can still see the foundations of the water tower where the Glacial Boulder is.

There was stuff all over the place and foundations can still be found, although virtually everything much above ground level has gone.

And there were other camps, around Tackeroo and other places.

The Barlow Mow and the Chet (if it was there) must have been raking it in....

The frightening thing is there is as much time between that event and now (and then some) as there was between the Kiwi's being camped there and Fred's return to find the grave.

I had a short spin out on the bike - it being rather cooler than I thought it was.

I was laughed at by a tree.

And I saw another tree which I believe to be stalking the countryside after dark, in search of fresh blood.

I may go and see if it is there one night - in the car - with the doors locked.

It was 'only' 10℃ here, but it felt really warm in the blazing Sun.

I decided to venture out on the bike - without a jacket.

This felt like a mistake for the first mile, but it would have been an encumbrance after that.

I did sneak just (100m) outside the Outer Limits, but there was no human activity. I did traverse another section of road with a central reservation.

And a section of a few hundred yards, where it's never been felt necessary to tarmac it at all, although the original surface is actually quite good.

The sheer amount of noise that the birds in this tree were generating must have been close to them getting a letter from the council.
