4 St Martin's Place would be the Market Vaults. 4 Martin Street is The Doghouse.

In the old days of Joxers, Sam always used to complain that he got the wrong post every time a new postman did the route.
I confer, @Goldilox is correct. I should know I did live there for 5 years.

Only the British mailing system could have two properties with only a few hundred feet between them, on the same road, both as No 4 but on different streets both named after a fella called ‘St Martin’ but not the same street.

My parents have the same address as about fifty other houses, some of which are on a parallel road about a mile away across the fields. It's up to the postman to know who is where.

They do have the new building-specific postal codes now, of course, but they aren't usually necessary.

My mother has the same address as a house 250 metres away. Whilst one house is in Shropshire and the other one in Staffordshire, the Royal Mail, in their wisdom, has given both Shropshire addresses. A regular exchange of mail takes place.

In 25 years, my parents have never had anybody else's mail by mistake.

They will get mail for other addresses, an example would be the house across the road, which has a burglar alarm and a glass front door, this makes the build up of mail visible when they're away, so it gets delivered to them then.

My street's a nightmare, mail and takeaways go everywhere.

There's a large accomodation block with the same name as the street , but people just put the number and the street name. So I'm regularly putting mail back in the post box marked up to be redelivered.

I always get mail addressed to the 'residents association' too...

How do I edit this?

To be fair, it's probably not the people in the accommodation block, who are almost certainly just as annoyed as you. It's likely to be the people on the other end of the phone, or an automated system that can't deal with both a block and a street name. We used to get the same issue at our flat in Liverpool, in spite of the fact I'd repeat the address multiple times whenever I was giving it out. I was declined credit because of the issue at least once.

On the occasions when I was required to give my address over the phone it seemed sensible to use the phonetic alphabet for the postcode, to avoid mixing up similar sounding letters, thus Sierra Tango One Six etc...

On two occasions I was asked to confirm my address as being in a place near Dover, in the CanTerbury postcode area.

They had both guessed that Sierra meant C and suggested that I should use 'Sugar' for S....

If you have a hipster beard you'll do fine.

I've been once and it was actually rather nice but I did feel out of place because everyone else in there had a hipster beard

I've been here a couple of times during the day and night.

During the day it was normal pub. On the evening that I attended it was a heavy rock bar. Not my thing.

I wish the place all the best and I will try the food 1 day but i won't be a regular.

Hi,

Has anyone heard or know if the Dog House will be re-opening?

I've tried to get in touch with the owner and the Heff but just radio silence. :/

All speculation at the moment i'm afraid, that's all I know

Vaults next door is alright though, new owners seem fab.

I've heard different things to "opening in june as there's no point as it's small place with the amount of tables" so waiting for restirictions... but also heard of things going on behind the scenes

so who knows.

hopefully so!

I have messaged Craig and the Heff but no reply, so I dunno really?

Yet to go back into the Vaults...not really had the opportunity to do so recently. ~Will do eventually though, the food in there looks spot on!

Probably don't know themselves yet, it would be sad if they didn't open up again it's a bit concerning considering everything is pretty much open again apart from poptastic, from what I know anyway.

Poptastic I believe are waiting until the June 21st date. Though given what is happening with the Indian variants oop Norf I have a suspicion that the last release date in June will be put back a few more weeks,
