The Empourium will feature a number of indoor games, including crazy golf.

The venue will also have Darts, Pool, Shuffleboard, Beer Pong, Bowling and Table Tennis.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Oh, come on, you seriously think that's going to go down well. How many other companies have tried such an idea around the country and in big cities too? And how many have lasted?

As always, I wish it well but you have to be realistic.

Moan and moan about how shit Stafford is and that there’s nothing to do and nobody ever invests in the town and as soon as someone does attempt something a bit different and new, condemn it to be closed in 6 months. It’s pretty sad.

I don't do that as a general rule and am a bit pissed off you would accuse me of that to be honest.

However, one has to maintain a sense of realism when starting a business. That may well be lost on someone whose salary relies on other people's taxes, of course.

Well after the next budget, thousands of us whose salaries rely on other people’s taxes (who pay taxes too) are likely to be out of a job, so that’s something to look forward to (no idea what my line of work has to do with this thread though  )

Anyway. Seen lots of people sharing the venue on social media over the weekend so hopefully that translates into visits once it opens. Kids will be allowed in on weekend mornings and school holidays apparently.

Lots

To do with your job

As you appear to be more typical of Stafford than of the UK, given that the employment levels locally are much higher in the public sector than the National average

I’d prefer a more Keynesian/Green economic approach to the situation myself . Increase the minimum wage substantially , tax the rich , tax the corporations, tax fatty foods, tax on sugar , tax tobacco and alcohol in shops ,but not in pubs with radiators

The trickle down economy doesn’t work unless you are a taking the piss

I’d completely agree with you as would the overwhelming majority of those I’ve worked with in various public institutions. Unfortunately we tend to be governed by elected officials with a depressingly different perspective, so we work with what we’ve got. Still don’t see the relevance to this thread though other than the fact councils increasingly rely on business rate funds (often to fund care and placements in the private sector) due to the successive reductions in the local government settlement - a successful enterprise serves us all. I assume the owners have done their homework about what makes this format work elsewhere and decided it can be a going concern. It’s still disappointing that rather than having a bit of faith in a local business a person’s first thought is to condemn it to closure before it’s even opened. Maybe it will be closed in 6 months but I admire them for even trying especially in the current climate. We’ll be giving it a go anyway.

We can’t have people agreeing with people!!

This is the Stafford Forum!

Where will this lead? …

The end of uncivilisation as we know it!

Outrageous

( relevance = medium wage town converting to a low wage town resulting in a low spend town )

So is it basically a tenpin bowling alley but in the middle of town?
