The Greyhound Inn at Burston / Sandon.

proactive

Enjoying a drop of red.
In the interests of leading a less sheltered life, we popped round to the Greyhound this lunchtime. The battered haddock was good, as was the lasagne verdi, apparently. We would both have tackled a treacle sponge for afters but the phone rang with a client having complete calamity, which rather forced me to get a shift on.

Nice place and next time I'll remember to switch off the phone...

Not the most direct return route from Rugeley....

I feel that the Greyhound might be the target of the next cycle-out.

Well, I've just returned from the Greyhound and may have to have a bit of a lie-down. Two pints of Guinness and a steak and Guinness pie, followed by blueberry roulade with cream. We went via Marston and Enson as the wingman complains at the Sandon Bank ascent, but still only a gentle half-hour's ride.

Welcome. Keep up the good work.

Nothing wrong with the '70s - perhaps you could have a punk-themed area..?

Through recommendation on here we went for Sunday tea a few weeks ago and enjoyed the meal and the service. What struck me was how it felt a throw back to the country pubs we used to go to over Bridgnorth way back in the 80's, not so much the décor but it felt like an individual pub and not a bland chain pub that serve food that accountants choose for cost effectiveness

As I said earlier - Mr Rex's criticisms above are exactly why I think that it is such a good place. A proper main road pub from forty years ago - walking back out into the car-park, one expects to see a few Cortinas, Triumphs, Marinas and (real) Rovers - back when things were just pleasanter.

In fact, it would be an ideal venue for a classic car run-out, surely - almost a themed event...
