The Greyhound.... i hope, thanks for all the comments i also think the decor is 70's ish but we have been here as a family for about 50 years now and its sometimes hard to change things to much as not to lose the goodtime memories. thanks again.
. . . And because he lived in a pub, always won the competition at school for the person to sell the most raffle tickets! Grrrr! ;o)

I try to avoid going out to places at weekends and other busy times.

Had the steak and kidney pie today - I doubt that it could be better.

Busier than normal, perhaps 'cos it's Friday...

I first went to The Greyhound as a very small child, collected from nursery by my parents to attend a wake there, following the funeral of a family member who lived in Burston.

Although I can't have been more than four at the time I vividly remember my mother explaining to me that her uncle had "Died from rabies after patting a dog in the park".

Her transparent fib did not have the desired effect.

Frankie Says- 'Stay Alive in 85'. Being 18 back in 1985 I must say I have a fond spot to that year, having money, a car, first teenage rampage holiday in Magaluf, finding out what my special purpose was for!
Yes maybe The Greyhound might be a blast from the past, but I'm sure hearty home cooked traditional favourites has a niche market.
Anyway a truly 80's pub would have regular fights on the carpark at kicking out time!

Ventured out there today and had the pasty option, instead of my usual steak and kidney / steak and Guinness pie..

I discovered today that the excellent Specials Menu ( great meals @£5.95 at lunchtimes ) is also available in the evenings*, Monday to Thursday, @ £7.95.

Handy for those heading for mid-week, late-night ferries....

Today I had the best liver and onions that I've ever had!

*Edit - I believe that that may no longer be true.

I mentioned above that I was particularly impressed by the liver and onions - it's not on that often, but, today, for some reason, I felt lucky, and I was.
