Went here this evening, the Wainwrights was bostin'. The screaming child a couple of tables away less so.
Food was decent enough at the price and you get the feeling it would be consistent day in and day out. Doing what they know, not special but would never let you down.
Fancy trying the Sunday lunch sometime.
Trumpet,
I was in the Burston Greyhound a week after you, on 29th February, and agree with your comments.
Twelve of us had a meal and two got quite angry that the food took nearly an hour to arrive. I wasn't in a rush and it just meant an extra pint or two for me.

No problem with service on our visit.
Yes, we were probably just unlucky - like 'Noah' that time in the Swan at Whiston ( or did the waitress see his name on the Reserved card and think he's been about that long that an hour or two can't matter ?! ) .

I tried the lasagne last week, but was so excited by the prospect that I failed to record the event.

So, a second mission was launched today.

Excellent nosh - tasty and substantial.

For those who care about such things as 'decor', the place has been substantially altered during the hiatus, but without buggering it up at all.

I sneaked in at the end yesterday and elected for the moussaka - I had been told that it was definitely worth trying, and, indeed, it was. I would prefer the lasagne myself, but don't let that put you off.

I decided to have chips with it this time, to give those who like to count the items something rather more challenging..

If they get this right, we'll move on to the peas.

I went yesterday with the intention of not adding to the extra procedures today, but I got roped into going again just now and it did all seem very well organised.

Instead of the 'central menu', each table now gets a non-reused one, so I've taken the liberty of reproducing today's here - there can be daily variations, to some degree.

So you know if they have any vegan or veggie options @Gramaisc?
It tends to be light* on the veggie options, but there are generally some possibilities of a veggie nature, though limited in the number of options, if any - the Breaded Garlic Mushrooms and the soup** in the starters, and the Mushrooms, Stilton and Broccoli Pasta Bake in the above would be veggie, I imagine, but may well not be vegan. Pretty much everything in the deserts would contain milk, I imagine. A preemptive phone call would probably be wise, if a problem may be encountered.

* The clientele would not be a heavily-veggie sector of the population.

** The soup, particularly, may vary daily, and some of the other offerings will be subject to availability on the day.
