Tried yesterday and extremely impressed - it's a good fit-out inside, and unlicensed - so bring your own booze.

The first thing to mention are the prices - under £7 for most main dishes for a sit-down is very competitive - and a few starters under £4 - these are take-away prices so excellent value. There is an offer running for Friday this week for 25% off I think - which makes it a very cheap night out.

In terms of food quality, I can only rate against Narvana and Panache - and on last night's food it's definitely on a par with Panache, and for some dishes, maybe beats Narvana - and that is saying something as we really rate Narvana. We had the Fish Tikka - fantastic melt-in-the mouth delicate flavours and Nargis kebab - equally good. For mains the Sag Puneer was superb, as was the Korahi - but the best for us was the vegetable Dhansak - sweet and amazing flavour. So, in our book a good 9-9.5 out of 10 - the dishes were fresh and really tasty. Wait times for food starters maybe slightly longer, but worth the extra wait in quality. The chef here seems really good.

The staff are very attentive and there seems a real desire to impress. They told us some people were mentioning the old Malt & Hops (before our time) and actual spots where they used to meet. And it seems they do also know the ex-Panache owners.

All in all a highly impressive first visit. We won't desert Narvana just yet, but they have serious competition now on price and value. We've yet to try Ras Leela, the new one by the church, so will reserve final judgement on our favourite, but Stafford curry lovers now have a huge choice.

Could Stafford be forming a new Mecca for curry afficionados - we could list 12 sit-down Indian restaurants in Stafford - should we get a Stafford Curry Triangle destination created to rival Birmingham's Balti Triangle ? How do we get a brown sign ?

Have we missed any ? - Island, Narvana, Curry Kuteer, Malabar/Mela, Dilshad, Ras Leela, Stafford Balti, Nishads, Spice Island, Simply Bilash, Abduls, Ashiana,

I'd like to add my $0.02 about The Island Fusion Restaurant...
Now those whom have met me can tell that I really like my food :lolsmash:
Since the Panache in Stafford closed down, it's been very hard for me to find anywhere which served that quality of food.
After visiting The Island yesterday, I can safely say that I no longer have to drive to Sutton Coldfield for my fix of top quality Indian food!

The welcome was extremely friendly - we were offered complimentary red wine (I was driving so declined, but my mate accepted).
We sat down in the corner and the atmosphere is cosy, yet spacious.
The menu is lovely, the food was epic.

Just go there ffs. If you're reading this, you're already interested.

I'm not a food critic - I just love really nice food, which is precisely what this is.

Just a note about the pricing: I'd have easily paid twice that amount. £6.95 for a curry which tastes THAT good - No where else even comes close!

TBH it's making me hungry thinking about it!

See you there!!!!!!!:teef::teef::teef::teef::teef:

Went last night. Very good indeed. A waiter informed me that all there currys are cooked using olive oil not ghee which is a brave move in my opinion. I know ghee is bad on the waistline but does give a nice depth of flavour. Will definitely be going again. As previously mentioned the amount of curry houses in stafford is staggering and I do feel for the ones in the less prominent positions like simply bilash and ashiana with so much competition.
