Newly-refurbished yet traditional ale-house in the very centre of Stafford (just off the Market Square). You may know us formerly as The Chains and Joxer Brady's.

The refurbishment has allowed the building to retain it's unique character, highlighting the pub's nooks and snugs.

We've got freshly-ground coffee (espressos, cappuccinos, lattes and mochas), pots of traditional and herbal/fruit teas as well as some delicious cakes, muffins, pastries and hot Paninis available.

In additional to our 6 hand-pulls of traditional cask ale (from micro-breweries like Jennings, Brakspear, Ringwood and Wychwood as well as Titanic ale coming soon) we've also got a new range of craft draught beers on sale. Revisionist Craft Lager, a micro-brewed Oyster Stout and a very exciting new beer from America, the Shipyard I.P.A.

We think these new craft beers, in addition to our excellent cask ales and well-earned reputation for top-quality Guinness, make us one of the best pubs to visit in Stafford.

We're also continuing with the Live Music established by Joxer Brady's, with Stafford's own Pistol Pete Wearn leading our Thursday Jam Night, professional musicians and bands playing each and every Saturday night, and an informal, unplugged, sit-around-and-jam session for those lazy Sundays.

We hope to provide the coolest pub experience in town, and we hope to see you soon.

Keeping you in the loop - we've had a big reduction on prices! As of today our lagers, craft beers and real ales have all gone down by 10p a pint! And we've also been able to reduce the cost on all our wines!

Our cheapest pint lager and ale is now just £2.99!

I don't suppose you are likely to get any real cider in? I dropped in the other week, and was rather dissapointed to realise you now sell strongbow. I understand ditching the Heritage, to be honest I was never a huge fan of that, but I did like the Thatchers Gold. Don't get me wrong, I know you need to sell what sells as it were, but is there any room for maneuver on bottles perhaps? They last for ages so if they don't sell immediately they wont go off. Pretty much anything from Thatchers or Westons will suffice, I have my favourites but I think I like pretty much anything they make. Even better if you could get any Gwynt y Ddraig, but I suspect that is pushing it!

We do sell Addlestone's Cloudy Cider in bottles, which has proved popular. We think this premium, double-fermented, Somerset cider is a great drink.

Yeah, I had a bottle of that when I was in. Its passable but nowhere near as drinkable as the thatchers gold was, could never have a session on it.

Don't get me wrong, I guess I'm just not your type of customer. The vast majority of people out at a weekend will happily drink anything, and i used to be one of them! Always figured a new business may want tips why people aren't in there, for me its the choice of drinks. I say this sat in the greyhound with a bottle of Old Rascal, luckily a few pubs do still cater to my tastes!

With respect, we don't feel that we cater to people who will drink anything. We have a wide range of excellent craft products. Admittedly, our draught cider isn't in that category, but, as mentioned, we do have an excellent, premium bottled cider.

We're sorry it's not what you're looking for, and should our cider range change in the future we'll be sure to keep you informed.

No worries and good luck with it, I hope it goes well. I just find it odd that a pub would aim for premium ales yet downgrade the cider while they are at it. Strongbow is possibly the worst draught cider out there, but it is cheap I guess hence everywhere selling it.

i've been in here a couple of times now and it is officially my favourite place in town.. the craft lagers are lovely, and the missus loves the fact you can get a bun/muffin/etc. now!

absolutely love the snug at the back, with the faux fire and nicely upholstered chairs

The Market Vaults is the selected venue for the book signing of The Inns and Alehouses of Stafford. Seat is selected, just remains the choosing of Saturday afternoon 9 Nov or Tuesday evening 12 Nov. An ideal opportunity for forumites to get face to face with some good beer. Another bonus is that there will be a special introductory price of £13 for the book.

Woe! Woe! and thrice Woe!, they've ceased selling Tiggys pork pies and scotch eggs. WTF !!!..........
Market Vaults has Tiggy's scotch eggs - with or without black pudding - pasties and sausage rolls.

No pork pies.
