The MET Studio at Stafford Gatehouse

Had a brilliant night last night watching some blummin' funny comedians at the opening of The MET Studio! Top of the bill was Jon Richardson who was particularly amusing. Can't remember any of the other folks' names but the compère was excellent too.

The venue looks superb (but then I would say that!) and I'm hoping to be going there lots in the near future!

Anyone else on 'ere go?

You should have spotted him - end of the row, overcoat on lap....
Haha! Err...don't remember spotting anyone of that description! Could be something to do with the Stella being £2 a pint...

Mr Gilbert 'Inbetweeners' aka Greg Davies. If you weren't there you missed out. Live stand up AT ITS BEST.

I will leave you to moan and groan on other threads about the state of our town...but be warned, you ain't making the most of what the hard working people of Stafford are offering to make this a little bit better. A little bit of something special. THE MET STUDIO. End of.

Having moved to Stafford over three years ago now it still amuses me how downbeat some Staffordians are about the state of the town.

I remember somebody complaining to me about the Picture House closing - and finally revealing, under pressure, that the last film he'd seen in there was Blackboard Jungle..

Funny that, isn't it? If you've never know anything else I suppose you haven't got anything to compare it to.

Someone should write a song about how good Stafford is...

Tonights comedians are stuck in London, so the evening has been cancelled :( Check website for further details.

just seen the new logo under "useful links" which reminded me i wanted to post a little review! went to the MET for the first time on saturday and it was brilliant! a lot smaller and more intimate than i thought it would be, but this is by no means a bad thing.. all the acts really got involved with the audience, and we had a right old jape..

alas, me being a gobby bar steward (i know, i know - none of you can believe that), once i had a few beers in me i ended up getting more involved than most of the rest of the audience, but it was all good fun lol.. well, at least i hope it was :teef:

there was some young geordie lad on who was well funny.. the compere was probably the funniest of the lot though.. he admitted he didn't have a clue what stafford was known for, and obviously the response he got from the audience was "the effin' hospital" lol.. next thing you know, he comes on after the first act was done and asked people with smartphones to check his twitter - and he had posted loads of photos of him at stafford hospital, having popped up there while the act was on to check the place out lol..

Still laughing at this...can't believe he actually went! The bloke came with an armful of gags and didn't use any, total crowd banter all night. Top marks to him, he was most excellent. (And applause to you too, that text could have been quite difficult to explain to your better half)
