So how do you class "Highfields"? Lot's of the houses to one side of the pub are nice and seems a good area then to the other side you work your way towards West Way which looks a bit rougher. Or are you tarring the whole area with the same brush?

I'm looking at moving to an estate opposite the castle. Seems like the nearest pub unless they build this new hungry horse.

Actually to be fair not all the people on high fields are rough. It's a shame but they do seem to all be tarred with the same brush, but some of the houses are really well kept and neat. I still wouldn't drink there though.

Address is Western Downs but they say they "The Oxleathers is a family run pub and is situated centrally between Highfields Housing Estate and Western Downs in the south end of Stafford. The pub is an ideal venue for all types of occasions."

Home of the Oxleathers MotorCycle Club. Apparently the pub is up for sale, lease or freehold, Fleurets have it listed for £350,000 Freehold

I heard that the Motorcycle club were not there anymore although they still go under the name of the Oxleathers MCC

Its too rough for the nice people and too nice for the rough people.

It's on highfields. Say no more.

I would rather go teetotal than drink in that neck of the woods.
I suppose your shit is rose-scented is it, HHF?! ;)

Considering the fact that due to the financial downturn many people have downgraded to cheaper houses in less-affluent areas, you may well find that some of your friends will be living in such disgusting places. Will you be as judgemental with them as well?

Yeah its on Western Downs not Highfields. Currently the freehold is up for sale at £350,000 via Fleurets with a little note stating may suit alternative use. So it looks like Marstons want to offload it

Don't think the Oxleathers has ever had its own thread, but Marstons have now put the pub on the market. Its one of 61 pubs they are selling off after a review of their estate.

Edit - Well, it did, although it was dormant for a decade - might as well keep it all together, though.

I thought they had sold the Red Lion in Rugeley to New River years ago but it's still showing on the Marstons web site.

Built at a cost of £500,000 for opening in 1990 and now for sale with a guide price of only £495,000.
