Agree with most of what you post db, but I think the issue raised (or certainly the one I make it) is one consistency.

My understanding is that this Hed Kandi night was a one off, or certainly not every Saturday night, so next week they will be begging (ok maybe not quite begging) "normal" punters to come back and have a drink with them.... problem is if you go there regularly and then one week you can't get in without paying £12 for a club night you have no interest in, you may well go somewhere else and decide to keep going back there rather than to TPH, especially if you have been badly treated into the bargain.

So if I was TPH I would look to see if you could have separate areas so your regular clientele can still come in for... well whatever they regularly come in for, and the "Hed Kandi crew" (can you tell i'm down with the kids) can come in for this event.

Oh, that reminds me. Went in for the second time ever on Saturday night and I can't say I was overly impressed. The cocktail menu is very short, there are no tequila based cocktails and there aren't any classics - although there are several 'classics with a twist'. I asked for a cosmopolitan, was told that they did something very similar with blueberries, asked for that with cranberry instead of blueberry and got 'the look'. Got the cosmo though.

Still haven't eaten in, and maybe that's a completely different experience, but I'm not a fan of the bar.

Well I was looking to do something a little different for the wife's birthday on Saturday so we went to The Post House for Afternoon Tea and have to say we were very impressed. The service was superb, one small issue was dealt with quickly and discreetly, and the food and teas were delicious. We have certainly had our eyes opened to the difference in our everyday brew to loose leaf teas.

All in all a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon.

Thoroughly disappointed yet again with the service received at The Post House.

A visit last Friday consisted of myself and three friends waiting to be served at the cocktail bar for 20 minutes, just as it was our turn a glass was broken in a tray of ice, a further 10 minutes passed where both members of staff disappeared (presumably to rectify the problem) and there was no sign of them returning. At that point we opted to go somewhere that hopeful was selling drinks.

On the way out I asked to speak to manager who really couldn’t have cared less what I was saying to him, he gave me a speech about health and safety which I fully understand but the time frames involved were beyond a joke.

To really show the class of the establishment while I was speaking to the manager my friends were being shown pictures of a mangled penis by the bouncers on their phones.

Having visited the Bank House twice since its reopening, I can tell you that the cocktails they sell are half the price of those at the Post House and twice as nice.

Is the Bank House open on a Friday night?

Still getting in the swing of things here,
A couple of weeks ago my hubby surprised me with a meal at the post house, we were upstairs and to be fair I felt out of place mainly because I'm normally a chippy tea kinda girl!!!! However the staff that served us were lovely they chatted to us and we even had a giggle, there was a private party in one of the rooms full of people dressed in fancy dress and they seemed to be enjoying the night. My meal and my husbands were lovely I had chicken in a white sauce with the cutest mushrooms in. Hubby had t-bone steak and chips which literally slid of the bone desert I couldn't finish I had panna cotta very creamy hubby had chocolate cake with cream, it arrived with I've cream but when he told them they sorted straight away. Oh and then there was the little box for the bill (i really liked this sad i know) and a couple of chocolates inside. All in all a really nice night and I couldn't fault them I can't afford to eat there all the time but as it was a special night it was lovely.
I'm very aware of customer service and making things work and I feel the little extra touches the post house do make it feel special, I was a little disappointed to hear that the staff I tipped at the end couldn't keep it and it had to be shared with all staff, I'm a firm believer if I tip someone it's for them (not for someone who might not of been working to get a share).

Sometimes when paying by card, the Chip & Pin machine asks if we want to add a gratuity, we always decline and, if the service warrants it, quietly slip the relevant member of staff a couple of quid.
At one of our favourite places in Wales we are often able to get the same waitress, a smashing woman. We always bung her a fiver and she occasionaly 'forgets' to bill us for the wine.

We paid by card and said to the girl serving the cash tip was for her and she explained they had to share it with everyone. At the end of the day waiting on staff are on minimum wage and tips can make a huge difference to them, kitchen staff etc are normally on a higher rate so seems fair to allow the face of the company (when they do a good job) to keep their tips
Just my humble opinion lol

Would you tip if the food was bad but the service good, or food lovely but service bad?

It's just that i find it difficult to tip wherever i am, as mentioned here; who gets what? and i don't create the minimum wage or force anyone to work places they feel aren't paying well enough etc etc, i simply get confused by the whole matter, instead of tipping i simply go back to the same place and keep going til i have reason not to.

Bob, thank you for your feedback.

Glass in the ice well is something that we have to deal with immediately and apologise that you were kept waiting so long to be served.

Our door supervisors are a sub-contracted team and I can assure you The Post House are taking this very seriously. It is unacceptable behaviour and the company responsible have been notified and are dealing with this.

I understand the health and safety issues, my issue was that I had been waiting for a very long time, then that happened and everyone just disappeared, ten minutes later the ice hadn't been cleared out and there was no sign of anyone returning, that was half an hour of a very rare night out just gone, and not one member of staff had the common decency to let anyone know what was happening. With all due respect though, the bigger issue I have is the complete lack of regard/respect shown by your manager.

'heard Robbie Williams and Ollie Murrs were in here last week, any truth in that?

Admin, any chance of changing the thread title, bit out of date now, just The Post House'll do what you think?
