Just a heads up for anyone contemplating visiting.

Called in here on Saturday with Mrs T's brother & sister in law from darn sarf.
Couldn't get served in the bar, several people waiting so went up to 'lounge' area and got served pretty much straight away. They appear to operate the serve whoever's standing next to the person you've just served and bugger who's next in line system.
Two pints and two cokes came to £12.80, when I queried it I was told "Oh I've charged for three cokes" she then knocked £4,00 off the bill!
You've got to watch 'em!

They've always overcharged at The Star, I think they hope you're too tired after navigating the locks all day to notice.
The bloke who used run the Three Crowns at Little Stoke many moons ago (over 30), used have 2 different sets of prices. if you were a regular then he'd charge a what it said on the pump, but, if you were a stranger the price went up a bit. We only found that out because we were served by both the landlord and the barman 1 night. Ex went to work next day and mentioned it to a work mate and was told that's what the thieving landload did. We never went back after that.

Might have been worth mentioning to the landlord he may not be aware the staff are doing anything wrong.

Surely a good landlord would spot it? The fact is most people don't want a scene, they just don't go back.

This is a Marston's pub ( Banks's as was ) who are not known for their kind and generous treatment of tenants - so you get a poorer standard of leaseholder who does stupid hours, and gets punished in the pocket if they increase turnover .

No excuse really, but if you bother to do your homework first you simply avoid these types of pubco places in the first place
