Tips on growing your own veg in the garden

Enjoying a drop of red.
An honesty box is a box left outside with fruit/veg/eggs kindling (anything) in, there will usually be a sign with the 'suggested' price for the items - you take what you want & leave the correct money, or sometimes more money if you think the produce is worth it.

*In some areas such as very small villages, people will leave other things in place ie cake or biscuits.....or sometimes an I.O.U.
In places like Walsall, they'll take all the stuff in the honesty box AND the honesty box as well and leg-it.

That is one of the thingsI miss round here, back in Cambridgeshire and all round the Fens you get all sorts of fruit, vegetables, eggs, honey, plants ... put out for sale like this. We sometimes sold honey, eggs and plants if we had a surplus as well. Cheap, fresh and good quality as well.

Obviously there is a better class of criminal there. They'd break into a house and strip it, but leave the produce and honesty box intact. Beneath their dignity and a breach of trust.

There's an honesty box for eggs in Haughton for starters.

Lucy moved to Church Eaton didn't she? There's a fair bit of it about, once you head to the boondocks out West.

There's a fair bit of all sorts of things around when you head to the boondocks out West, or the Empty Quarter as I believe one writer called it.

I will wander the byways looking for fresh produce.

Yes I did. I am currently away, but when back I expect to be putting humongous courgettes and cucumber out.

Nixon Garden Neatness
I put anything i dont want out at the end of the drive - soemone may have a use for it, The other day i was in the garden and a young lady stopped to have a look at the assortment of things i had put out - cuddly toys skates and other things - She was trying on the roller boots and trying to skate on the drive. I had to smile but then when she said have your got anything else inside that you dont want i thought it was time to run for cover.
