Pubs shouldn't be encouraging lazy behaviour. I don't want to sit in a pub with people that can't be arsed to get dressed properly and take no pride in their appearance. I will be giving the KH a very wide berth until this stupid idea ends.
My place if work have pyjama days, staff wear their pj's (we always buy brand new ones), it gives the customers a laugh and raises staffs spirits.

I guess (not being a pub-goer*) the pub are doing it for fun, and to keep their community in good spirits, whilst having a laugh and offering a free brekkie to hard up family's that might need it. No one says you 'have' to wear your pj's, or even attend the pub in the first place, stop being such a bore.

*pub-goer - I really wanted to say pub-man.

It was only for the weekend, finishes tomorrow and limited to the first 50 people per day.
So all done and dusted in a few hours and as you say @littleme its just a harmless bit of fun.

It's the ones that sleep in their grundies or less that I'd be worried about turning up :)

I'm not a bore. I'm just someone that enjoys drinking in a decent pub and wearing appropriate clothing.

Dressing up for charity days is very different to turning up to a pub in pj's for a free breakfast. Whilst some people MAY buy pj's especially for charity days or a free breakfast, it's those that don't that I can't stand. I don't like laziness.

I appreciate that pubs are struggling and need to do everything they can to get people into their pubs, I just think there are better ways to do it.

.

But if you like drinking in a “decent pub” then would you ever go to The Hungry Horse?
And would you be there at 10.00am drinking?
So it’s not as if they are in your usual local drinking establishment taking up space.

Pubs are struggling and the odd gimmick to raise awareness isn’t a bad thing.
It was basically their version of fancy dress for a weekend, certainly nothing to get uptight about.

It’s not something I would do, but then I don’t ever go to any fancy dress events, but if people want to dress up in their pyjamas and have a laugh then that’s up to them.

It’s probably achieved the desired effect, it’s reminded people that the pub is there, it’s got people talking.

Thats brought back memories of our only ever visit to Hoar Cross Hall, courtesy of hubby's works a couple of years ago.
I couldn't believe it when we attended a works Xmas night at Hoar Cross and at breakfast next morning lots of other guests ( not in our party) went down in PJ's and slippers :o
Some hadn't even combed their hair.

Thought we were going down for a nice posh breakfast experience, but put me off my breakfast having to sit with stinky unshowered guests wafting past in their PJ's and like a scene from ' Shameless'

This reminds me of a fancy dress night in the Gate lounge in the late 80's. Worth noting it didn't have to be New Years Eve for this sort of behaviour back then, it was a bit of a mad pub. I am actually in this picture, but again, for reasons of national security, I cannot reveal which one.

The fireplace behind you suggests the pub's Lounge.

... a most bizarre and unlikely statement - the perils of the 'silent letter'.

I was talking to a farmer in his 60s about another farmer, who would be in his late 70s and is active on the local music scene, mostly in a sort of folk style. He would often collaborate with others 'on the scene'.

At one point in the exchange, I was told - "Ah, yes, I did some rapping with him last year."

This seemed considerably more than unlikely and my face must have revealed my incredulity in the two seconds it took me to realise that he had actually said -

"Ah, yes, I did some wrapping with him last year."

This meaning that he had taken his machine for wrapping round silage bales there and done some for him.

I keep hearing a particular bird tweet in the garden. That's it, just a single note tweet repeated. Noisy little f*****. So I downloaded a bird App onto the phone that uses the mike to record the sound, presented nicely on a spectrum display. You then select the part of the spectrum that's the tweet (or whatever) and select 'analyse.' This is then shot off to a server a Germany, presumably where the database sits, and you get the bird identification back instantly.
Now the little sod hasn't tweeted since I did this, so I decided to test it by whistling my version of some bird song I've heard. Selected 'analyse' and it came back 'human.'
Bloody smartarse Germans !!! :P
So I downloaded another App wherein you input a bird type and it plays the song. Trouble with that is although it's great, it looks like it's got a gazillion birds on it, I tried a few but didn't recognise Timmy. (I've named my bird as: Timmy the Phantom Tweeter.)

The things you get up to when the weather is crap. :?:

I think you nailed it, although the App gives a more modulated song, but apparently it changes as the year goes on.

Charlie struck up this morning so I tested the first App by catching his sound and waiting for the Germans to confirm him/her. Sure enough it came back with an ID of 'Common Chaffinch.' (Not sure what the little bugger might make of being called 'common.')
I tried mimicking his/her song, it's just a one note whistle .... ident came back: 'Human.' I'm starting to think my bird impressions are a bit crap. :P

Came across this while looking for something. Could be useful.
