I'm not that far from you right now, dry as a bone here. Farmer across the way has a load of hay bales ready for wrapping, to be honest, it could do with staying dry till he's got them in.
Hope he gets them in quick. Hay field went up near to us last week , but seems was just the stubble on the fields that got burnt and not the bales.

Just had a few odd spots of rain for less than a minute and hardly wet the ground before it dried up again.

If there was any rain around these parts it's missed dropping it on us so far. (Apart from a couple of spots lasting just seconds at 1pm)

According to the live weather for my location , it's supposed to be raining on my house right now , with thunderstorms passing through...... No sign of it even approaching yet.....

Praying for a real downpour to soak everywhere. Bit too scared of a careless slinging of a fag end in the neighbouring woodland sending it all up in flames! :hmm:
Never had you done as fag Ash Lill @staffordjas

Today I saw some great acting which amused me while sitting in the doctors waiting room. (Yes I actually got to see someone after the pharmacist got involved)
Man and woman come in , her hanging onto his hands and taking ages shuffling along one step at a time to get to the seats walking really gingerly with a croaky attention seeking ' woe is me , I'm so bad I need assistance standing up'.
His phone rings and he goes outside to take the call.
While he's outside his name gets called to go in to doctor ..... Her "Oooh , he's gone outside , I'll get him"
She jumps up so bloody fast and sprints to the door shouting his name loudly and clearly .
He comes back in , she decides she's going into the surgery with him..... doctor has to wait ages while she suddenly goes back to her hobbly and croaky 'look at me , I need assistance act,

Well more like, today I read.

I'm sort of watching Real Sociedad v Barca whilst listening to music so I've got the subtitles on.

Dembele had a shot for Barca and the subtitles read "They gave Dembele farty mushroom there" which eventually got corrected to "They gave Dembele far too much room there". 😂😂😂😂

... two chaps thatching a derelict pub.

It fronts onto a main road, but it backs onto the Grand Canal, so it has some potential - it will be interesting to see what happens. I don't remember it being thatched before, but Street View says it was - but very 'thin' and dark-coloured..

There's a good bit of reed in the canal about a hundred yards away, if they're a bit short.

I miss that view from the bridge of a ship out deep sea. Ships are very darkened at night from the bridge, (nav lights etc are all well shielded so as to be seen only from narrow angles viewing the ship externally. The horizon was flat in all directions, and you could see our galaxy edge on right down to the line on a clear night.
Big as the sea is ... that put you in your place.

... the Milky Way, on my bike ride back from the pub.

There's not a lot of street lights around here, or other light pollution, so, with the clear, cool night, it was plainly visible.
That reminds me of
"We'd take the path to Jupiter and maybe very soon
We'd cruise along the milky way and land upon the moon
To a wonderland of star dust, we'd zoom our way to Mars"

It's a fairly easy, three mile, straight run back, I'm not likely to get that lost.

I was going to say, that bike is just about breaking every law of physics doing all that. (Unless of course you have some colossal energy source, are not bothered by acceleration/deceleration and don't mind getting back from the pub several thousand years after you left it Earth time.) :pint::pint::eek::P:facepalm:

... a stoat, snoozing in the sunshine, in the middle of a tarmac road.

He was not very concerned about my arrival on the scene, but got up and ambled off before I was able to extract and fire up the camera
