Some nice new traffic lights been put up on J14 island.....yep even more lol........wonder if stafford council could give some comp vouchers for petrol, as stopping and starting uses more!! (we live in hope lol)

Admin edit: Thread title amended; decided to keep it separate from the main "Traffic Lights..." thread as it could be considered a current local news story. :)

Most M6 junctions seem to have them now. The problem is the amount of people who drive down the slip road and try to join the roundabout without stopping.

It was the Highways Agency that installed the lights.

It's badly thought out, and likely to cause accidents on the m6. The slip road is very short and tonight when I was going home the motorway traffic was backed up from the exit onto the motorway I've never seen that before when the motorway is in normal flow. It appears Pointless, dangerous and expensive and just an excuse for more traffic lights.

The M6 joining the A14 often backs-up over a mile, apart from the obvious delays it's part of the driving experience now....

I use this route every day on the way to work and detour through Catthorpe now Mon to Thur but Friday mornings are OK.

I usually assume that most of the large trucks in the queue are Felixstowe bound.....

it seems to have improved traffic into stafford from Great Bridgeford. EVERY morning the traffic has been backed up nearly to G.B. didnt see as much today.

Went through there today and there are two sets of lights operational. Maybe that's it, I don't know. There were some very impressive skid-marks visible, though. Extra caution may be advisable...

Having travelled through that junction every day, twice, for two years plus at rush hour I can definitely say I've noticed the difference. Now instead to zipping through a gap in the traffic, I get to wait and watch all the ample gaps go by, before it's m turn to go and someone else's turn to watch the gaps go by.

I can honestly say I have never had any problem navigating through that junction.

VG - I drive to eccleshall along that route every morning, can't say I've noticed any traffic in creswell let alone all the way to GB!

Why pick J14 with the shortest exit slip roads. It WILL not be long before there is an accident and some one gets hurt. Who in the council will be accountable then. Some ones name signed the work off.

It's always struck me that the sweeping in of the slip-roads tangentially is not the best idea. It leads people to feel that they can enter the roundabout at quite a high speed, despite the 30mph limit and the give-way lines. It also limits the visibility from goods vehicles, particularly left-hand-drive ones. I've been hit there three times, always by people that were simply going too fast to deal with the situation adequately in the time that they had made available to themselves.

No - these all occurred before my blue bike was nicked.
