BBC said:
Art historian Dr Nina Ramirez reveals the codes and messages hidden in Anglo-Saxon art. From the beautiful jewellery that adorned the first violent pagan invaders through to the stunning Christian manuscripts they would become famous for, she explores the beliefs and ideas that shaped Anglo-Saxon art.

Examining many of the greatest Anglo-Saxon treasures - such as the Sutton Hoo Treasures, the Staffordshire Hoard, the Franks Casket and the Lindisfarne Gospels - Dr Ramirez charts 600 years of artistic development which was stopped dead in its tracks by the Norman Conquest.
Strange foot fetish, contingent to finding fruity female presenter, that thankfully disappears, then bizarrely reappears at the end, not to get in the way of a superlative programme.

Staffordshire hoard appears briefly at beginning, as if to emphasise how much more it will contribute once it has been properly studied.

I was intrigued when Dr Ramirez said the Anglo Saxons used symbols from the past and the future in their military jewellery. They were, indeed, very clever people.

Haha - good spot.

Perhaps they should have focused their abilities to look into the future to concentrate a little less on symbolism and a little more on cavalry training.
