A girl I work with says this is true because it actually happened to her parent's friend's next door neighbour. Make of that what you will.

I'm sceptical.
I heard it from my Fiancee's auntie's daughter who apparently knows the said person from her local. Is that the same thing???

If this is true why isn't it called the Golden Retriever Orient ????

Golden Orient Rumour, as a business ourselves we have been happy to advertise with the Restaurant and to support another local stafford business. Last night we heard that the Restaurant had been closed which obviously concerned us. We have today phoned Stafford Borough Council to obtain the truth on the situation and have been advised the folllowing:-
" There is absolutely no truth to the matter it is a nasty rumour started by another chinese restaurant, the restaurant has been inspected with no problems found "

Running a business in this current climate is difficult enough, without the added problems of malicious and harmful gossip.

Stafford people have to support their local businesses, we work hard for our reputation it just proves that anyone can damage a business without any thought of the consequences.

Welcome to Stafford Forum, Gas Engineers, and thanks for providing such a definitive answer to this particular local urban legend! Like you say, such things can be very damaging; hence why I changed this thread title to make it clear that it was about myths, not truths.

That's one of the great things about a local forum such as this one - it gives people a chance to talk about local issues, and really get to the bottom of local rumours; be they urban legends, business proposals, MP's intentions, or whatever! :)

And welcome.

How many times have we heard rumours about a restaurant serving meats other than those found in local supermarkets. Usually spread about when someone's cat or dog has gone missing.

Thanks Stafford Forum! I heard this rumour from my nephew (yesterday) and my daughter assured me it was true this morning. I had to check, did a quick google search and this conversation came up. I am very relieved to hear what I thought was the case all along.

Yeah, rumour is going round Balfour at the min. Explained how stupid the idea was that it was still open if it really happened, he seemed to grasp it eventually!

Ah, excellent! It's nice to know that if people have the good sense to Google rumours such as this, they find Stafford Forum to set the record straight. :)
