It comes from the Stafford Burgess’s.

Every year people who were born in Stafford and want to die apply to SBC to become Burgers.

They have to attend a special court to get approval and in reward for their sacrifice get an allotment at Coton Fields named after them.

It’s like Dignitas but cheaper. Their carcases are then given away to butchers, hence the term Freemen of Stafford.

It used to be the highlight of Stafford Pageant with the freemen marching at the head of the procession into the market square where they were ritually slaughtered by the baying mob. This was stopped after the ‘Mad Freeman’ disease outbreak and it is now done in the approved slaughter house under the Guildhall.

It was the idea of king John who, if you remember your Robin Hood, was a complete and utter basket case and believed his pet snake gave him advice!

Homemade vegan sausages, hash browns, baked beans, slow-roasted tomato, sautéed mushrooms, spinach, wood-roasted pepper and toast.

Also, walked passed earlier, great location.
