VHS or Betamax?

Throughout the 80's the only shop in town you could rent Betamax films from was Video Stafford. Whether you hired Zombie 1, 2 ,3 or 4, Return of the Zombie, Zombie Resurrected or the complete Kung Fu collection did you watch them on VHS or the far more superior Betamax. And was your video recorder of choice a top or front loader?

VHS, but not until everyone else had had one for years. Front-loader. Actually, my old machine died a few months ago so if anyone has a VCR they want to give to a loving home...

Saw my first films on a Betamax - Raiders of the Lost Ark and Spies Like Us.

Always thought the toploader was a bit more stylish tbh.

I can just about remember betamax, don't think we had one. I do remember that it was a particularly 'special christmas' when we got a video player. I think i watched superman on a loop all day! Get in :)

Yeah, they were mighty machines, you needed one hell of a cabinet to fit it. Think my dad actually built something himself.

tommy t's family kept hold of their betamax player for years, i seem to recall, for the sole purpose of playing their extensive back catalogue of james bond films :uk:
