Virgin media in ST17 area

Over the last few days i have noticed that YouTube videos are taking five to ten seconds to start i have also noticed that steaming is very slow and is buffering a lot, making it difficult to watch Prime and Netflix.
I ran a speed test with speedtest.net last night and this morning and my ping is nearly 400 the speed is very erratic shooting up and down and settling at around 100 mb, i am on the 200mb package.
This morning i rang there tech department and after some investigation i was told the resources in my area are over allocated and my service is running 30% less than it should and there is nothing he could do, he then gave me a monthly credit of £7.50p and i asked to be put through to the leaving you department, i explained this to them and asked if i could get out my contract because they were in breach and i was told i could not it would cost me just under £300.
After refusing to take what i was being told i eventually got told they were going to fix the internet EAT 15th February and i could get out my contract for free or i could except £50 and if the problem isnt fixed by the 15th February i could still leave for free.
So if your having the same issues as me argue your rights.

Thanks for that - we've noticed it being a bit laggy over the last couple of days.

Will get on the phone to them later and see what they say.

It's the Virgin media cashing servers being overloaded you tube is cashed on vm servers to reduce cost. Speedtest.net is not so is unaffected.

In what way abysmal?

I've been getting lots of non-loading webpages. Spent an hour on the phone to their call centre without any success. Now waiting for the technical team to sort it.

Attempting to do anything that requires a stable connection is near enough impossible.

You will get 30 secs of a connection that's fine, and then 5 minutes of nothing. Causing web pages to time out etc.

I'm in ST 17 and keep getting most pages not loading these last few days. Had to resort to my mobile data to get on this thread and others. My landline phone is making a strange dialling tone as well tonight..

There's a live area issue with packet loss in the area. Been told that an estimated fix is tomorrow evening as it can take time with them finding the effected cabinet.

Been like this here, also ST16 for a good few days. Even here I'm having to keep refreshing pages and trying the "post reply" button several times. So annoying!

Quote reference number F004999136 if you do. Ask to speak to a 2nd tier level member too as they will be able to check that fault reference properly.

The man I spoke to recognised the area fault as a data packet loss issue. They're not sure of the source of the problem though by sounds of it.
