Just a heads up really, they say you'll be notified if your bill is going up but I wan't. I called to query and was told they had emailed me, but were unable to say when or even what address they used.

Mine has risen by over 10%, for just broadband it's a bit of a joke now at over £40 so I cancelled. Doesn't matter if you are in contract, you are free to do so with no penalty. Was more the guys insistence that they'd told me and that it was my fault I didn't know that annoyed me!

I'll have a look, but basically it's the guys (and girls) in Swansea. You cancel, you get called from India a few times with absurd deals, you turn them all down, in the last week before you leave they nearly always offer you a good deal to stay. My uncle works for the 'last line' team, they have offer no other previous people do, so it's them that always give the best deals.

This is what I received a few days before termination date:

Hi there, just a reminder that we’ll be closing your Virgin Media account and disconnecting your services soon. If things have changed and you want to keep your services, please call this number 03303035301 and we’ll help you sort it

I think your account has to be near termination to get offered a deal.

Just had it confirmed, the best deals go to someone already leaving and you don't get the good offers til close to termination date.

Make sure your preferences are set to allow contact in your virgin account too, as sometimes they won't contact you at all.

I rang them up and told them I was leaving due to my bill touching best part of £100.
We were fed up of the internet being crap, the modem decided day to day if it was going to work. Next thing the woman I sort of spoke to, not being rude, but if English isn't the first language, at least get someone that can be understood, she'd booked me an engineer to come and swop the modem, she then put me through to someone for the telly package. Removing the Disney bit reduced the bill by almost £45, if they took the Sky bits off, then it would go up by 20 quid.
I waited a couple of days then rang about the telly box not working. I won't lie here, the cat had been sick on it, killed the box off. Another 2 days later an engineer arrived, gave us an all singing all dancing new box, didn't understand why the 1 we had was almost 10years old, they should have changed it years ago.
My last bill was £63, I have no idea where the spare money has gone.

I've been with VM broadband since 2009 and it's been pretty solid bar the occasional Youtube cache problem. There's nothing else around that can give you 1GB. The next BT offering is getting close but I hate BT and think ADSL is an inferior technology, plus I have no phone line connected.

Once you get above about 200MBit you're better off using ethernet to your modem/router. I have some 10GBit ethernet ports in my home.

We were with them from 2007 for years and kept getting deals by asking to be put through to 'the redemption team ' and saying we were leaving. Then the final time , with a massive renewal quote , we got a jobsworth who told us "You have had enough deals over the years, this time you will have to pay the top price" . Told him stuff it, we'd go elsewhere. Just happened to coincide with Talk Talks black friday deals so we changed. Rang them back to confirm we had just changed providers and got another agent who tried to talk us out of leaving and offering us really good deals.
Told them too late, already got an even better deal elsewhere!

Yeah but it is Talk Talk 🤣. They are fine until it goes wrong.

I'm VM and working from home, it's been very very reliable since the start of Covid Even if I am paying a little bit more it's worth every penny for the peace of mind. One gets what one pays for is true in this instance!

We had a hell of a lot of problems with Virgin since 2007 when it was installed and for years after. Apparently on the roll out they were using contractors from all over the place who didn't know what they were doing and cocked ours up with a bodge job (according to the Virgin workman who was finally sent out and whole front garrden had to be dug up to lay the proper cables properly.)

Talk Talk have been brilliant , and the only service since who have done our house move smoothly. Hubby has had no poblem working from home during 16 months of covid, shielding , and working from home great here so far. Got the free full fibre roll-out thing happening on thursday. City fibre already been out to do the pre-work , new modem arriving tomorrow to replace our ancient one, being informed every step and hoping this new fibre setup works as well.

Yeah… if you actually want a decent speed in Stafford right now it’s basically VM or nothing. We’re earmarked for 2023-25 for getting FTTP on OpenReach so we’ve still got a bit of a wait
