Once you offer one vegan option you'll start to get people moaning that there is no choice, used to happen a lot with a veggie I knew cos most places sold vegetarian lasagne and that was it!

Beacuse it said on the menu to ask........and then they had nothing! They should have just said "We do not serve vegan food", I can get on board with that.

They did, they removed the cheese :p

From the restaurants POV maybe they so rarely get vegans that they were throwing out the vegan ingredients before they got used, therefore a conscious decision was made to stop wasting money? To be fair wasn't it only very recently that pizza hut started selling vegan cheese, and they are a huge company.

It's the new/been there a while now Italian on Greyfriars.

We went for the first time today and had a very splendid meal for very good value prices I think. £15 per head for a main meal, salad, garlic bread, dessert and drinks (non alcoholic). Its the kind of place I drive past all the time and keep meaning to try, but never quite make it.

Anyways, they are now open at lunch time and are offereing a kids eat free deal (don't know all the details) but I thoroughly enjoyed our meal, so will be going back!

I hope they get enough trade to survive as Stafford has a dearth of decent eating places IMO.

Hmmmmm......

Hmmmmm......

People's tastes, opinions and experiences change and there's nothing wrong with that.

For myself I tend to give an establishment a final chance if I've had a poor experience and if it hasn't improved I look elsewhere. This even applies if I've been to the establishment several times before without any issues.

Clearly Kyoto is expressing a similar view of their experience.

There are plenty of good restaurants to choose from, and if necessary be selective about, in Stafford.

I actually avoided going for a free meal with some people this weekend, because they are so picky about everything that I generally come away with a feeling of admiration for the restraint of the unfortunate staff.

I suspect, on occasions, people can suffer the consequences of previous, unconnected customers.

I would have several convictions by now, if I had to deal with the public.

Was in wolves this morning *shudder* and needed a coffee, McDonalds was the only place open so went in there. An employee was being served before me and they asked for 2 sausage and egg McMuffins, one without egg, but with extra cheese, and extra sausage, on flatbread. I would have told them where to go.

We do the same. One off day is acceptable, 2 in a row is not.

I have found "my places" and generally go there, when I have a say.

The customers are part of what a place offers.

What? We weren't vegan then, but vegetarian

. if you're searching back so far may i recommend getting a life......[/
I didn't search, I noticed you were the original poster and left such a glowing review I thought it interesting how your opinion/attitude had changed.
Being a lurker on here for years you come across as a most miserable, whingeing, life-hating old hag, but please don't change because you and a few others are what make me visit this forum almost daily. You are a constant reminder of how vile, over opinionated etc. etc. people there are in today's society and how lucky I am to not personally knowing anyone like you.

Very disappointed with Vivere last night. No vegan options on the menu but they were happy to remove cheese when making our food. All for the same price as 'with cheese' of course :(

I think that most people on this forum are intelligent enough to know that when restaurants cost up the price of a meal and what to charge a customer, the actual ingredients used are only part of what you are paying for.

Rent (or mortgage) rates, staff costs, administration costs, lighting, heating, cleaning materials, maintenance, wastage, breakages, advertising all add up to what you are paying for.

Removing some cheese from a dish will have minimal impact on the actual cost.

But why let the facts get in the way of a good old moan.

.... and offering a dish of olives, say, to have with the meal would have been a nice gesture, and have a similar minimal impact to the cost..

I have a sister I law like that, makes going out for food/ ordering a chore and sometimes bloody embarrassing. Thing is she could do with some proper food in her

I quite like Vivere but I find it disappointing that their menu never seems to change.

Equally, to be fair, a restaurant like that ought to be able to offer a few vegan dishes without it costing them much at all. Went to a lovely restaurant in northern Italy in the summer and all their pasta was vegan (obviously not all the toppings) and to be honest I couldn't tell the difference between vegan pasta and 'normal' pasta. My tagliatelle al funghi (my favourite pasta dish) was lovely.

So whilst I think that, as usual, @kyoto49 has gone OTT, she does have a point.
