Equally, to be fair, a restaurant like that ought to be able to offer a few vegan dishes without it costing them much at all.
So whilst I think that, as usual, @kyoto49 has gone OTT, she does have a point.
Yes it's true that a good chef should be able to cater for vegans and be able to rustle up a few dishes.
It's equally true that vegetarians and vegans have much more choice dining out than they did say 10 or 20 years ago. Plenty of places to go that cater for that lifestyle choice.
I'm going to turn this on its head.
I'm happy to eat veggie food, in fact my meal tonight was lentil curry with quinoa.
However, when I go out for a full breakfast I want the works, and that includes pork Bacon and pork Sausages.
So for example, if I went to the Butter Knife Cafe (where it appears that they don't serve pork) and I asked them for pork Sausages and they refused then I'd have two choices which would be "take it or leave it." I certainly wouldn't expect them to go and change their menu especially for me.
If I ate it I'd think, "ok this restaurant doesn't cater for my requirements so in future I'll eat my breakfast at one of the many other establishments that do the sort of food that I like".
If @kyoto49 was doing a review then all she had to say was something along the lines of "not enough choice for vegans"
They did actually cook her a meal in the end, they may not have had enough choice for her, they didn't deduct 20p for the cheese that she didn't have.
There was nothing on the review to say whether the staff were pleasant, or if the service was good or if they were efficient. Or even if she actually enjoyed the pizza.
Just a whinge about a restaurant not catering to her lifestyle choice.
