Hi everybody, wife and I are moving in April and thus searching for a house or flat to rent. We have looked on right move and a few estate agents on the web, but not found a huge amount at the moment, just wondered if anyone had any suggestions on where to look? Thanks for your help!

At the end of last year, beginning of this year we found quite a few 2 bedroom flats for around the £400 mark, that would be ideal but can go a little higher and if worst comes to worst, would settle for a 1 bedroom. But if possible, 2 bedroom for £400 or less. Not too bothered about the area, but within reach of the town centre would be great.

ALl being well we'll be leaving our 3 bed semi in north end towards the latter part of april - lovely house, plenty of room etc. We rented through bridgefords but I could put you in touch with the landlord directly if it would be of any use.

Hi, thats very kind of you but being a three bedroom house it is probably going to be well out of price range. How much is it out of interest?

It's sort of humorous/strange how £400 is pretty much only going to get you a 1 bed flat or house share, but if you add £100 you have a wide variety of 2 bed properties and if you go up to £750 you can have anything! Like shoes I am also moving out of my rented accommodation in Stafford soon, although my flat (2 bedrooms, town centre) is £550 so I assume that's beyond your budget. Where I'm moving to anything reasonable starts at £1k+ and the nice places (comparable to my current place) are £1250/m+... isn't the world a strange place.

Anyway none of that was of any use to you, but good luck :) Although maybe of some use: contact Cartwrights (http://www.cartwrights-stafford.co.uk/) they normally have some low priced places, although I haven't paid much attention recently.

Thanks for that, will take a look to see what they have! As mentioned, over the last few months there were a good few £400ish 2 bed flats so still hopeful. Thanks for the advice though.

We had huge trouble finding another flat. £395 seemed cheap and good for our massive flat before but it had rising damp. D: Now we're in a little flat but it's much nicer but £55 more expensive. I think you need to broaden your budget now, it's not the optimal time for renting but just keep looking. Rented accomodation is getting snatched up nowadays too though so if you see a place, just go for it.

I know of someone that has a 2 bed flat on peter james court up for rent. £525pcm, but you may get it for less. I imagine the utility bills would be quite low and its split level which may be better?...
I don't think £400 will get you anything much these days. I know someone who rents out a 1 bed flat on parkside for that much, but its currently occupied.

Just looked and the only ones below 450 I'd prefer to avoid. About £495 seems normal for an alright 2 bed round here.

Was just rightmove, looked for 2 beds under £500 and as I said the ones under £450 weren't exactly desirable.

Ah yeah rightmove, up to about two weeks ago there was lots, intact John German had a really nice two bed flat near Rowley Park for £400, but we only just missed it. Will take a look in Gumtree too, thanks.

I thought there were quite a few in your price range on rightmove, did you have any other specifications?

Thanks for those two, have been noted. The second is interesting, in the title says house but the description says flat. Strange!

Really? All the ones Rightmove displayed when looking for a new flat the enterity of January for under £450 were either utter dumps or in the middle of no where. Just have to keep looking daily!

They do get snatched up really quickly. We enquired about this one the day it was added and were very lucky to get it! Another place we put in for we didn't get cus someone got in just before us (and yet they were happy enough to take our money, got it returned though!)
