I need help, me and my husband (who’s even more technology phobic than me) have just been out and purchased a pair of iphone 4’s. Although the way it’s going they’ll shortly be flying out of the window.

I need an iphone lesson, and someone to come round and connect it properly to my wifi and car.

WMR – Do you do iphones?

P.S. I hope it’s ok that I put this in general but more people read this than technology/classifieds and I didn’t really know which of those to put it in either.

I have moved this to Computer & Tech Chat, as that is definitely a more appropriate place for it. The people you are looking to attract will almost certainly read this sub-forum, don't worry. ;)

To get onto wi-fi make sure your wi-fi is turned on and the name of your network should pop up automatically. Click on it and enter you password and bingo!

To your car I guess u mean Bluetooth? Thats a little more tricky as you will probably have to pair it first using the car audio systems pin code...

I will try to help you as much as possible on here if you have any other questions.

I’ve got it connected to the wifi but half the time it says it can’t connect, to anything (itunes/appstore/facebook) I’ve got internet minutes included with my package as well so surely it should be able to connect with something.

With regards to the car – I’ve been through the user manual and got it paired, when I get in the car the stereo automatically starts playing songs from my iphone but it won’t send the calls through the blue tooth. I have no idea what to do with it, when we bought the car (8 months ago) the guy from the Toyota dealership set my phone up then and there in a matter of seconds but I can’t seem to manage it and I’ve spent hours faffing with it :(

If you are connected on WiFi the it wont use your mobile connection even if the WiFi isn't working properly. I had this problem with mine a few months back and it was fixed by moving the router to a more central location in the house away from the back of my computer which I guess was interfering with the signal.

Regarding the Bluetooth thing Im not sure as mine connects to a blue tooth hands free kit and only "speaks" when voice comes in or an app tells it too (I.e. Tomtom). The only time that music starts to play automatically is when i actually physically dock it onto a speaker system. Do you have any more info?

Hi guys,

Sorry for not posting for a while, there are never enough hours in the day and I've not been on here for a while.

Thanks for the offer gdavies I may well need to take you up on it.

I have got the bluetooth in the car sorted - in the end I took it into WR Davies and got them to do it for me, I felt better after the sales guy and 2 of their tech guys had a go and even then had to refer to the user manual!

I've not really looked at it for a while, I lost heart about the same time as my last post when I plugged it in and ended up with all my contacts gone and replaced with all my husband’s contacts instead. I’ve not got round to doing anything about it but I’m still not used to my mum’s full name flashing on the screen when she calls me or seeing ‘mum and dad’ with the in-laws number underneath.
I have set aside an hour or so today to do it, I think I’ll have to set up a new itunes account and I’m hoping I can keep all the songs and apps that I’ve paid for on what was the shared account.

If you don’t hear from me for a while it’s because I’ve got so frustrated the phone and laptop have been thrown out of the window!

This says to me that the iPhone has synced to the wrong iTunes library.

Do you and your husband share the same user account on your computer or do you have one each? You should really have a user account each and therefore a separate iTunes library.

We were sharing one but I am going to have to set a new one up, it's frustrating as I've spend hours uploading music from CD’s and also spent quite a bit of money downloading songs as well - we share a similar taste in music and to have to do the same again for me is not a prospect I'm looking forward to.

I’ll be honest I didn’t do too much with it yesterday.

Stay with it. Some 'user-friendly' systems can be truly infuriating. It is your duty to beat it...

(Oh, and I presume that you scrutinised his contacts...)

You do NOT have to download or re-rip already imported tracks. I repeat: You do NOT have to download or re-rip already imported tracks.

First of all go the iTunes preferences and under the 'Advanced' tab and put a check in "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and also "Copy files to iTunes Media Folder when adding to Library". Press "OK" and close Preferences.

After that, go to File > Add to Library. Then navigate to where your music is stored (I use a Mac so I don't know where it will be on a Windows machine) and simply find the music you want in your Library and then add it. iTunes will add the already ripped tracks to your Library.
