Mark Jackson of Geo build told us he could start almost straight away as he had three crews of men and took on 4 jobs at a time. We later realised that he had 6 men and eight jobs! Later only to have four men and eight jobs!
The poor guys didn't know if they were coming or going, fortunately my husband was around to instruct the men as they had no clue what they were supposed to be doing when or if they turned up. We would be lucky to get half a day if they arrived in a morning, sometimes they would arrive only to collect some bricks and tools and leave again! The only time we ever had a surge of work was if Mark Jackson was approaching a stage payment.
So frustrating during all the lovely dry weather that no one would turn up even though we would be promised work men in the morning! We once went 10 days of seeing no one and most recently 3 weeks which led to us giving him his marching orders!
