What are we watching on TV?

Just watched the first episode of 'The Responder.' An unrecognizable Martin Freeman as a grizzled and deeply disturbed Scouse cop. It's started very darkly, and I expect it's going to get darker.

Tonight's 'entertainment' was Downfall.

A tale of a deluded ruling clique, intent on reinforcing the belief in a failed project to outwit Europe, determined to believe hard enough in a fantasy to actually make it work, whilst the world falls apart around them and innocent people suffer the consequences of their inadequacy.

Oddly like watching the news.

But, it's clear which side the Russians are on.

Last week I watched 'Rise of the Nazis, Dictators at war' episode 1 (of three) on BBC2 and tonight I watched episode 2 which I'd recorded. This series focusses on the enormous struggle between Hitler and Stalin during World War Two. Episode 2 bore a curious resemblance to today's news.
It just keeps going around and around doesn't it ?

Some may remember the musical from the early 60's called: 'Stop the World, I want to get off.' The same year as the Tsar Bomb was detonated and just before the Cuban Missile Crisis walked us toward the edge. (I remember both events, I was studying for 'O' levels at Kingston.)

I never saw the musical, but I'm starting to understand the title. :(
